Decent Monitor For Gaming And Colour Accuracy.

Go to solution Solved by GoodBytes,

Dell has a nice selection of IPS monitor part of it's UltraSharp series.

Some of them come with pre-color calibrated profiles sRGB and on select model, even Adobe RGB (those who are wide gamut).

Check out the Dell U2414H, U2713HM, U2713M. If you want a 16:10 aspect ratio, check out the U2413, and U2413HM.

It must be noted that:

-> U2713HM is an non wide gamut monitor, comes with sRGB pre-color calibrated profile, and uses a true 8-bit IPS panel.

-> U2713M is a wide gamut monitor, comes with sRGB and Adobe RGB pre-color calibrated profile, and uses a true 8-bit IPS panel.

-> U2412 is a wide gamut monitor, comes with sRGB and Adobe RGB pre-color calibrated profile, and uses a true 8-bit IPS panel.

-> U2413HM is a low cost 16:10 monitor, so it uses a 6-bit panel, and no color calibrated profiles.

-> U2413H is a 16:9 monitor, and uses a 6-bit panel, but comes with sRGB pre-color calibrated profile. It does offer true thin borders.

Also, fancier the monitor, the higher input lag. That is the general rule. However, these days, all decent IPS panels are plenty fast for fast action gaming and video. It's no longer really a concern.

Also, all Dell pre-color calibrated profiles, are just quick calibration. takes it "better than nothing". Don't expect true properly made calibration.

Here are some in depth review of the mentioned monitors:

U2713H - http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2713h.htm

U2713HM - http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2713hm.htm

U2412M - http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2412m.htm

Hope this helps.

Well, I have owned my XL2411T for about a year and a half and quite frankly the 120Hz isn't detected anymore and the colour accuracy is appalling (I have been working with IPS in college), so I want to change out.

However, I'm an avid gamer and I want something with decent response time, no ghosting and decent colour accuracy as I do a lot of photo editing for fun and college work, also, I'm colour blind with Red and Green and bad colour accuracy hurts my eyes especially when it's Green and Red.

My budget is around £250-£300 ($400-$500) I would like a 24"-27" monitor and I don't want 4k, 1080p or 1440p will do me fine, so does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

-Sam

Dell U2412M is great. You should look up some reviews about it.

That,or if you want a cheaper monitor(which is almost as good as the Dell, but without a VISA mount),then get an Acer H236HL.This is 23" though.

Thanks for the help GoodBytes and everyone else, I decided to go with two U2414Hs considering It had 6 "Votes" for that panel on LTT and another 4 "Votes" on Tom's Hardware and was only £179.94 each at www.scan.co.uk, for that price I was tempted to go with a third monitor but I don't think I need it... I might... Maybe?  :P

Thanks

-Sam
