Brace yourself, here comes the "nzxt" generation phantom 240

brownninja97

From this point one whenever i make a case thread you cannot say: Define R4. I understand you like the case, now quit shoving it down other peoples throats.  rant over, enjoy the case.

And so here is the next phantom, i think this is the fifth phantom, maybe the sixth, i dont even know, anyways it looks awesome so lets get onto it. Just as a note, the pictures on techpowerup dont do this case justice, im not sure why but it looks very ugly on their site so i had to get another source. (btw i havent mentioned fan filters, im not sure if they are there or not). You might be able to see the 140mm and 200mm fan mounts at the front as well behind that grill, its nice to see those options especially at this price range.

Main2-2000x2000.jpg

And so onto the front IO, we have two usb 3.0 and then all of the other standard stuff like power button and audio ports. The usb uses a 19pin so make sure your motherboard supports it.

93f.jpg

Onto the interior first CALM DOWN, i know its scary that this is a phantom without rubber grommets but it costs $70 so dont be a chungus about it. It has a single 120mm at the front and at the back, these are their new fans so they shouldnt perform too bad. It supports 6 3.5/2.5 drives or you can rip that top drive bay out. As for cable routing its the same as always, bloody awesome, sadly no rubber here as they do need to save money considering the price but there are a ton of tiedowns so no need to cry, just yet.

As for watercooling support, 140mm at the bottem front and a 240mm at the top and it supports push pull thanks to the massive bulge at the top, this is a midi case but that really doe make it look like a mid or even full tower.

93b.jpg

Here is a better view of the window on the side, it shows just about everything you would want to see, i think it goes a little too low considering there are no rubber pads there your cables will be visible and i doubt many will want to see them. There is no tint on this window also the case is the same shade of white, the darker bit at the bottem is because someone isnt using a bright enough flash.

Well then, whats your opinion, do you like it, do you hate it, can it run crysis, we will see.

Is it still made out of plastic?

Yes, but high quality plastic.

I'm still not buying one until they make it Mini ITX sized. The little guy would be so adorable it would rip the prodigy out of its itx throne. Cmon NZXT, get on this already!

I like the look of this more than the previous Phantoms. The ones before this remind me of Alienware's gaudy looking cases. This is simpler... doesn't have that weird cutout on the top. Still not a fan of the overall shape, but I like this more, so it's on the right track, imo.

Rubber grommets would be nice though.

Then again, I'm one of those weirdos that likes "simple", unassuming cases. Source 210 FTW! :P

So happy they didn't go for the idiotic half mesh half window like they did on the 410, maybe I'll see if the door on this is the same size and steal one.

NZXT has really stepped up their game latley. This is nothing near as good as the H440 but it is a definite improvement over the older Phantoms.
