Dual bios GIGABYTE AM1M-S2H ?

Go to solution Solved by ProKoN,

Is the backup bios file stored on the same chip?

I dont think so because previos iterations of gigabytes dual bios have two physical chips.

yes your right

there must be two physical chips present

you caught an editorial mistake by anandtech :) good job... five golden stars awarded

i have a z87 ud5h. i confirmed it has two physical flash chips soldered to the board

BIOS

  1. 2 x 128 Mbit flash
  2. Use of licensed AMI EFI BIOS
  3. Support for DualBIOS™
  4. PnP 1.0a, DMI 2.0, SM BIOS 2.6, ACPI 2.0a

So I was reading a review int he anandtech.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/7945/the-am1-kabini-motherboard-preview-asus-asrock-gigabyte-msi-biostar/4

The review says it has dual bios but I cant see the second bios chip on the mobo neither the gigabyte website say about it having or not.

I wanted to recomend this to someone so checked a review and got confused.

The review writes "DualBIOS topology". The Gigabyte DualBIOS technology, means that you have a backup BIOS that will flash it self to the BIOS ROM, if it is bricked. You don't need simialr chips for that to work, since only one of the BIOS' is accessible.

That guy is building a nas with 4-5 drives

So he wanted cheap and energyefficient solution.

Now i think the biostar one would be good choice
