Recommend me cherry-MX

Yesterday I was at my friend. He got new keyboard which is mechanical (razer blackwidow) & it was my first touch to mechanical keyboards & that feeling was awesome! After typing on it, I don't even want membrane keyboard, & sadly I have Razer lycosa which is horrible keyboard in all way. So I decided to get mechanical keyboard, but problem is, I don't know which cherry-MX to get. That keyboard was very good, but was too "clicky" & as I play games mostly at night & my family is sleeping I think it will be the problem. I want something quite, but I don't know which cherry-mx is quite. Can you recommend me one?

Personally, I prefer browns. I think they are decently quiet. 

 

If you do want one, I suggest the G710+

Get Cherry MX Browns on a Ducky Shine Zero/Ducky Shine 3. They're quiet but feel nice and clicky.

I have used blues and reds, I like them both. But I bought a tester and really like black switches now too.
Give Greens a shot

If you want quite, avoid blues then. But whatever you get, maybe consider some O-rings to dampen sound some more.

I second this. If quiet is a big factor, they actually help quite a bit. Unfortunately, they do noticeably effect the feel. But any store that has mechanical keyboards is gonna have one. Go see if you like it.

There are quite a lot of new switches that will be available in the market very soon. (Due to Cherry's Patent expiring)

 

But here is the jist of things (As I know it)

There are 4 basic switches to choose from:

 MX Blues - which is by far the more common switch in the market has a tactile bump and tends to be very loud. Gamers and some typists like blues because its easy to double tap and its harder to commit mistakes when typing. 

 

 MX Browns - Browns are very similar to blue except for one thing, its quiet-er compared to a blue switch ( rendering the name of stealth edition on Razer products)

 

 MX Blacks- (my personal favorite but don't own one...) are like browns in terms of noise levels but a bit harder to press, which IMO makes for a better typing experience, without the tactile bump are the middle of the actuation.

 

 MX Reds - (my least favorite switch...) are like blues without the tactile bump and its a bit more easier to press.  

 

Personally I've only ever owned Razer Mech KB's (Blackwidow tournament ed. then switched to Blackwidow Ultimate stealth then bought a orbweaver cause I missed blues) but I was able to try other switches on some stores. If you are switching from a membrane KB you'd probably enjoy blacks the most.

I would recommend blue switches with dampening rings. This cuts out most of the noise associated with cherry switches, as the generic "blue" loud clack is actually the keys bottoming out. To those saying browns are a quieter version of blues, be careful with this recommendation as they don't actually feel like a softer blue in my opinion. After using blues for about 6 months I decided to try my friend's new brown keyboard and the feeling is completely different, so unless you have real experience with both switches don't make assumptions.

I didn't say it was necessarily inferior, just that it was different. They don't feel like normal browns.

And as for it being better for gaming-that's subjective. I tried it (a buddy of mine has one) and I just couldn't get used to it. I like the longer travel distance, they felt like the mechanical version of a chiclet keyboard to me. But I also prefer blues and greens, and really dislike the feel of reds, which are the "gaming" switches. They feel mushy to me. I actually prefer my OG G15 to reds. And sure, those are really nice membranes, but they're still membranes.

i guess, shall i say its better for double tapping and yes all kbs are preference
