Some BIOS settings not being saved

Go to solution Solved by airdeano,

Hey guys so I recently noticed that when I go into my BIOS, I set my System Performance mode to ASUS Optimal but when I save and re-enter, none of them are selected. This is the menu I'm talking about: (http://techgage.com/reviews/asus/z87_expert/asus_z87_expert_efi_41_thumb.jpg)

Secondly, I set EPU Power Saving mode to Disable and it keeps reenabling it after I leave the BIOS. Is this normal because I've customized the BIOS for overclocking or what?

customization of pre-canned settings is not available. in case you have to re-tune

then the factory settings of that "optimized" button is lost. so when changes are

made, they default back to factory so no tuning issues are compromised.

you can save the optimized setting on a OC profile, then any changes can be made

without re-writing what ASUS needs to have as a factory default.

Sounds like your CMOS battery is on the way out. you can replace it and test to see if that works. (Normally the clock also resets when this happens though)

The motherboard is practically brand new and it's only those two settings that don't stay.

Is that a physical switch on the motherboard?

So basically what you're saying is that because I customized my settings, the default optimization settings are automatically disabled, so to speak, and that this is perfectly okay?

yes, if ASUS let you modify them and then had issues, they could ask to refresh

the "tune" as they know it is a non-modifable selection.

to save OC profile, you'd need to be in advanced mode. name the profile, select

number, save profile. change back to optimal defaults, go to OC profile,

select what you saved and modify to your hearts content.

Is that a physical switch on the motherboard?

yes the physical switches make sure they are off

Okay I had a sneaking suspicion that this was just normal behaviour. Thank you!
