Guys it's here! Android 4.4.3!

Prepare your bodies, because they are rolling out the next version of android right as we speak!

It is not a major update, but it will fix most of the quirks people are having with the (mainly) Nexus 5 and 4 and Google Play edition HTC One and Galaxy S4, such as:

  • frequent data connection dropout fix
  • mm-qcamera-daemon crash and optimization fixes
  • camera focus in regular and HDR modes fixes
  • Power Manager display wakelock fix
  • multiple Bluetooth fixes
  • fix for a random reboot
  • app shortcuts sometimes got removed from launcher after update
  • USB debugging security fix
  • app shortcuts security fix
  • Wi-Fi auto-connect fix
  • other camera fixes
  • MMS, Email/Exchange, Calendar, People/Dialer/Contacts, DSP, IPv6, VPN fixes
  • stuck in activation screen fix
  • missed call LED fix
  • subtitle fixes
  • data usage graph fix
  • Internet telephony fix
  • FCC compliance fix
  • miscellaneous fixes

In other words, Nexus 5 owners will be pleased to see their beloved phone become even more awesome!

Big changes to the Android ecosystem are coming later, in the form of android 4.5 (or android 5.0?) with speculated 64-bit OS support and more efficient use of resources by using more of the new android runtime (ART).

That's it for now (god I'm so stoked because it will make my device one step closer to perfection).

Thibaudv out.

UPDATE (21/04 10:00AM GMT+1):

To those saying there is no date yet; the official date is set at april 21st, and as in some countries that day had already come (time zone difference) I thought I'd say it is upon us.

Source: http://www.latinpost.com/articles/10775/20140419/google-android-kitkat-update-4-4-3-release-date-announced-download-will-fix-nexus-samsung-galaxy-s4-and-htc-one-device-bugs-but-lacking-new-features-until-4-5.htm

The update will be rolled out gradually: first up are the Nexus 4, and the Nexus 7 (both 2012 and 2013), directly followed by the Nexus 5 and 10. After that Google Play edition devices will receive the update, after which Moto X users should see it.

UPDATE #2 (21/04 11:37AM GMT+1):

As stated by @ZachGalifianakis, the april 21st date could be a fake or postponed, because the article being used as a source for that article is a week old, and at the time there were no official dates yet, as far as I know.

I'll keep you guys posted.

And here I am still waiting on kitkat...

In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only a GTX 1080, just a single 1080, where my glorious PC once stood....

For that is all I need, For the Emperor of Man, Jen-Hsun Huang, protects. We march for Nvidia, and we shall know no fear!

android on pc? :D

Acer made an AIO with it, so... I think Linus did a video of it.

And I wish I had a Galaxy Tab or Galaxy Note. I LOVE Samsung's UI that they use (don't kill me if it's almost-stock Android... I'm an Android n00b).

...frequent data connection dropout fix...

I have that issue with the Nexus 4. Even installing Cyanogenmod didn't fix that. I really hope I will get that update too.

You could try cyanogenmod. It is a real improvement to other android versions. I have CM11 on my phone and I will never go back, I finally have the control over what my apps can access.

I know it might not be his case but not all phones support cyanogenmod, i am stuck in 4.1.2 because my phone has a mediatek processor and locked bootloader. Motorola promised 4.4 update for june though. (RAZR D3)

Nope. Acer made an Android AIO with a 1440p? display. I'm pretty sure Linus did a video on it.
