2 or 3 depending on case you like, and future plans for expansions, if you like smaller cases then take that

I'd say the Intel builds but if you get an B-series motherboard then don't get a K-CPU. Also, if you can then get a better graphics card. Otherwise, those are all really nice builds.

Potatoes are good for your nostrils.

2 but ,i say cut down on your motherboard and CPU ,get 3570K with a Z77 Board (MSi's Gaming edition perhaps...) and get a tougher Graphics Card like a GTX 760/770/660Ti PE/670 it would Be More GAMING optimized

 Crust : Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.4Ghz 1.45v  |  MotherboardMSI Z97 MPower  |  Fruity FillingMSI GTX 960 Armor 2Way-SLI |  CoolingNoctua NH-D15  |  RAM : 16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz | Storage : 2xSamsung 840 EVO 500GB SSDs Raid-0  |  Power Supply : Seasonic X-Series 1250W 80+Gold  |  Monitor : Dell U2713HM 27" 60Hz 1440p  |

Aren't Sandy, Ivy, and Haswell all still about the same price? Why not just go with Haswell?

because ,they are still a bit highly priced , 3rd Gen Intel CPUs Perform like hell and a good Z77 Board Got All the features You would want ,Z77 with a 3rd Gen i5 or even an i3 with a tough Graphics card is the Perfect combination for a Budget Build, not need to go for any thing higher if you want the best bang for your buck

and i wanted you to cut down on the Mobo Because Z87s are fairly higher priced then Z77s ,getting a Z77 will save youmore for the CPU ,saving you more to get a tougher GPU ,cause i think a 750 is not quiet their

I'd go with no. 2 just because i love mini-ITX builds. Especially in the node 304.

Main PC:

ASUS F1A55-M LX, AMD A6-3500, (2x2)gb Kingston HyperX Blu DDR3 1600mhz, Seagate Barracuda 500gb 7200rpm,
Corsair CX430M, Cooler Master Elite 343, Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit

Netbook:

Lenovo Ideapad S10-2, Intel Atom N280, (1x1)gb DDR2 667mhz, WD Scorpio Blue 250gb 5400rpm, Zorin OS 9 Lite

by the time games start using multiple cores and doing it well all but the high end xeons are going to be outdated, it would be like buying a 6 core C2D because one day more cores will be used, it doesn't matter because it is still old, regardless of the core count

naah man ,i'm not talking about xeons, i'm talking something like an intel 4900K Extreme Edition series or an 8Core AMD (will have to swap the mobo then) ,that would be awesome
