idk what she did but it wont turn on at all no boot screen or anything what are a few things i could do to start troubleshooting this problem

could be a dead battery have you tried turning it on with the charger attached? also when you attach the charger does the charging light show?

Can you get into the bios?

Idk much about computer software and shit, but is there a way of hard restarting it like a phone?

Try an ATX Reset

 

1. Remove the charger and battery

2. Hold the power on button for over a minute

3. Plug in the charger and power on again

 

If nothing happens when you try to power it on again then I am afraid the laptop is well and truly dead.

I have the same problem. My laptop was having cooling fan issues so I changed the cooling fan and heatsink. After that, my laptop would not turn on. I thought maybe I screwed up the power cable ribbon but I replaced that as well. I have been over this computer a hundred times and I can't figure out what is wrong. When I plug it in with the battery, it shows the battery light on but that is all. When I take the battery out, nothing. No fan noise, nothing. I am at my wits end. I took my daughters computer apart last week and replaced her cooling fan and no problems at all. I am not new to the computer but this had me stumped.  HELP PLEASE :(

Take out the battery, and the power cord, hold the power down for 5 seconds and plug everything back in and see if it boots.
