Will my AsRock Z77 Extreme 4 support generic brand RAM

I have some weird ram from my dell computer, and I have no Idea if it is compatible. It is not on the list.

As long as it's DDR3 Unbuffered Non-ECC RAM, it will work.

Yea, but they have compatibility lists.

And those compatibility lists are just lists that they themselves have tested with the board. They can't test everything, so it can be assumed that as long as it's DDR3 normal RAM, it will work.

It may or may not be compatible, and may or may not be stable. The RAM on the list is just the stuff they tested and found to 100% work. No harm in trying.

Not exactly. The RAM chips may be the same, but the DIMMs may not be. That's why compatibility is a thing.
