Some sites load others don't

VulsaviiK

Hey guys,

Trying to access another forum, I haven't been able to do it for a couple of days now through the home network, works fine if I use a mobile hotspot from my phone, however not if I use my home connection. I have a similar problem with steam, and none of my housemates can connect to it. My router is an Asus RT-N66U. I've tried DNS flush, using a public DNS, clearing cache, resetting wireless adapters, and yes, I turned the router off back on.

So, some internet stuffs works (We've been playing D3 fine, no steam, some websites load perfectly, others don't), and it's consistent across all the users on the network. What could be causing the issue?

have u tried connecting to a new ip...??

I think it's set to obtain from ISP. I definitely didn't set up a static IP address

What sites are not loading? Check your DNS settings.

Specifically what do I need to be checking for?

EDIT: DNS is also set to automatically obtain, was this through my computer right, under Ipv4 settings?

Do a nslookup on the websites that are not loading. If you can resolve the domain name then try pinging the IP address.

Request timed out. I'm going to try factory resetting all of the internet gear tomorrow (Today technically, its 1am so....), and re-install all of my adapter drivers. I probably should have tried that first, though I don't believe the latter of the two is the issue

Question are you running anything like Malwarebytes by any chance cause if you are then the realtime protection could be blocking the IPs so you may need to white list them.

Have you tried setting other DNS servers like Google DNS or Level3?

The Google DNS is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, Level3 is 209.244.0.3 and 209.244.0.4

What did you set your router's firewall (if it has one) to? The router is the one thing in common with all devices affected.  Since you are doing a factory reset on the router, that might fix the issue.

Open a command prompt and try to ping the broken websites. See if you're successful. Report back.

Nope

Tried the Google one with no results, I'll get back to you with the Level3 one

Router firewall is disabled

Try another router if at all possible, a known good unit. You may also want to bypass the router and connect directly to your modem, just remember to restart your modem by powercycling it after connecting directly. If it still does this after a direct connection then it may be a modem issue or isp issue.
