GTX 780 Classified Backplate?

Quintone

So I saw this backplate when looking at amazon, and I am left wondering if it does anything at all besides aesthetics. According to the product description, it cools it down by 3 degrees celsius, but none of the reviews confirm this.

Does it actually cool anything, and is it worth buying?

im pretty sure this backplate is only for the EVGA classified 780...

if you have a classified 780, it should already have come with a backplate

The backplate helps with three things:

-Aesthetics.

-PCB rigidity.

-Thermals.

On the thermal side, as heat rises, it is supposed to draw heat from the PCB.

It is worth buying for the above points.

My classified did not come with a Backplate. Nowhere had it in stock in the UK, so I had to order the Backplate from Evga's German store

are you just reading it off the website or do you know this for a fact? Like i said in my first post, none of the reviews talked about the better thermal

It is how I imagine the process would work. I have not fitted mine yet as I'm in the process of ordering some mod parts for my case, and going to do a complete rebuild.

I fitted my backplate to the Evga GTX 780 Classified.

Aesthetically, it looks a heck of a lot better than the exposed PCB look.

Thermal wise, I ran a few rounds of heaven and that backplate does seem to draw heat from the PCB. It can get very hot!
