Hi all,

New to the forum but about to upgrade my current set up as its getting a little bit slow now.

Motherboard...  rog max formula x38 socket 775 1333fsb

cpu....  intel q6600 4x2.4

psu....   Corsair hx 520w

graphics card .....   evga 8800gt 512mb

I HAVE THE ABOVE CPU COOLER on this set up and would like to know if it will fit on the new set up which will be as below...

Use same case and psu and case fans which are noctua ones on a zalman 6 fan controller

Kingston beast 240 pin memory 2x4

Hope this is enough info for you all and look forward to your replies and any other info that might help with the upgrade.

Thanks

bob

If you have the mounting parts for LGA 1150 you're fine, if not you can contact noctua and ask them for the parts, I think they give them to you for free.

Thanks for the info I have looked on their site and will email tomorrow.  Just hoping my old fan wont cover the ram slots as its bigger than the new one that's now on sale..

Kingstons Beast is low profile style ram. I think you are ok with it. When you contact Noctua, attach your receipt or other proof of purchase and they will sent mounting hardware for free. The kits are priced at $/€5 at stores.

any old ram will do ive never had some ram die on me and there aren't that many people that make the actual chips anyway, most companies by the ram chips and stick a fancy heatsink on and thats it.

There reallly isn't much difference. Only in heatspreaders. Some really high end kits are better than low end while having same specs but thats performance you can't see in real world apps. Only in performance testing solutions.

Don't be afraid to email someone at noctua for confirmation.

The U12P series is discontinued (I'm guessing that just means they aren't making it anymore, it should function the same and depending where you get it, it should have whatever the specified warranty is). The U12P SE2 is LGA1150 compatible, so you should make sure you're getting the SE2 version.
