Very high RAM usage with no programs open

So, today I noticed in the Task manager that my PC was using 2GB of memory whenever I had next to nothing open. My next reaction was to close all of the programs that were known to use quite a bit of memory, but this didn't solve the problem. 

 

My task manager is attached to this post (with none of the programs open)

You're not fully shutting down Google Chrome correctly. It's using most your RAM.

my desktop/laptop use 1.4 gbs on idle. my win 8 tab uses 1gb on idle so 2gb probably means chrome is still running, especially if you have lots of extensions like me.

You're not fully shutting down Google Chrome correctly. It's using most your RAM. 

I had Chrome open for writing the post, sorry, I should have told you  :unsure:

Chrome uses tons of memory. When I have Chrome open with 15 tabs (something normal for me) and other programs, I have 4 GB used memory, so 2 GB is very good  :D
