I think I installed Ubuntu wrong...

I tried installing Ubuntu alongside Windows, but I forgot to shrink the volume. I rebooted, then booted from the DVD to install it, and I assumed it was done, so I restarted it. However, I thought it would show the bootloader, but instead it booted into Windows 8. Could there be an issue I forgot to address or what?

Re-install, pay extra careful attention before you click to move onto the next step. It will be simpler for you to do that instead of installing GRUB. Alternatively, you can do just that - http://howtoubuntu.org/how-to-repair-restore-reinstall-grub-2-with-a-ubuntu-live-cd

Tired of hearing people say you can't install OS X on AMD hardware. Educate yourself.

Don't ask for help when you're just going to respond that the correct answer is too hard.

Fine, but is there a simpler way? Or will a reinstall work?

If you're not comfortable with using a CLI to fix your system, why are you even installing Ubuntu?

But yes, i already told you, reinstall it, just make sure you read every dialog carefully before moving onto the next step.

I am using a GUI, but I try to roam into the world of CLI to fix every once in a while on Windows. Well, right now, I am doing a reinstall. This is what I like about Ubuntu Live CDs. They let you do other stuff while it's installing.

OK, so after a while into installation, it changed screens and says, "Remote User." I can't type anything or see anything. What does that mean? Is it done or what?

I'm throwing you to the wolves. Use google. You're going to have to get pretty good at that, all new linux users do.

But I can't even find my issue using Google.

I would say before you go any further make sure you have backed up everything on your computer and I would also deactivate stuff like iTunes you can always reactivate them later, and have your restore discs burnt.

Then just straight up reinstall Ubuntu overwriting the previous installation of Ubuntu, this time read what you are clicking, if that doesn't fix it then there is something else that is the problem, possibly a uefi issue but cross the bridge if you get to it.

OK. I got the problem solved. Another problem came up though. Whenever I boot into Ubuntu, it gets stuck on the purple screen and won't advance for hours. I already have all of my Windows backed up. But, I already dual booted both.
