No signal! im clueless

Go to solution Solved by Timopomer,

UPDATE;

i inserted a cheap gfx card and posted without a problem.

what could be the problem now/

hello there,im building my pc inside a 200r case with the m5a97 2.0 motherboard...

this is my first build and im not posting acctualy i dont get any signal on my monitor..

i have 1 8gb stick by corsair

a 280x dualx

8350

SSDNOW v300 120gb

cx600

and thats it..

when i turn my computer on i get 1 long beep followed by 3 short ones and then after the delay another one-when the fans start spinning.

first of all i dont know if it counts as 4 beeps after a short one or 3....and second of all im not sure if its because of my PSU...since the fans spin up.

the requirements on the website state it needs 750 watt but i didnt see that before..

Faulty cable, monitor or the RAM could be inserted wrong or dead on arrival.

If you read the first post you would know its not the cable or monitor.

Where besides the beeping part does it say that? I said it COULD be.

It also could be the aura of a floating cow in his toilet.

- Is your GFX Card receiving enough power? Make sure it's fully inserted.

- Did you try unplugging the 280X and trying to post?

- Also take out the RAM, try to POST and see what happens.

- Then, check all your cables. And re-check again. We humans have this thing where we are overly sure in ourselves, and don't realize that what's wrong is probably starring us in the face. Follow each and every cable from one point to another, unplug it, re-plug it, and be sure it's actually going into the right connections.

unpluging the 280x gives me the same beeping prob, now since i know tha a cheap low power gfx card works on my system i know my ram and cpu is 100% ok

it might be the card or the power supply..

.. If everything works with your 280X out of it, it's one of two things:

- Your 280X, of course...

- Not enough power to the gfx card

That's all it can possibly be if your PC posts and works without the 280X in it, or with another card in there.

thats what i thought...ill go to a computer shop and look if they have an overkill PSU just do check that the 280x is fine..

if it still wont run,ill need to replace my 280x with a working one.

Yep, that is correct.

That's exactly what I would do, in that same order.

Good luck mate. Let me know if you have any further questions about this in the future.

It's probably the Graphics card. Don't listen to all of the people in here who CLEARLY didn't read your OP.

its sad because i bought the card in germany and i live in israel so it will take a lot of time.

so first of all im going to check if mayb e the PSU is the prob,if not ill need to ship it back.

It tells you in the picture you posted. One continuous beep followed by 3 short beeps. No VGA detected.

So yeah.

It sounds like the fourth beep is the system actually posting, Have you re-sitted all your DIMMs, PCI cards and power connectors? Could just be a dirty connector.

I think the OP has provided himself with all the knowledge he requires in his original post. My guess is that the GPU isn't receiving enough power. Time to upgrade PSU.
