Cherry Greens vs Buckling Spring

peaking duck

Hi Guys

After owning Cherry Browns and Blues, im looking at Greens as a heavier option.

greens being so rare, i would have to buy blindlessly from an e-retailer

i had a go at my mates Unicomp Buckling Spring

are the greens just as heavy as the buckling spring?

i'd like something heavier than a blue but a tad lighter than a buckling spring

Here is the Cm Storm CQuickfire Tk which does have Cherry MX Green as an option

From what i've read here

Buckling spring have an actuation force of 65-70cN

Whereas Cherry MX Green is 80cN

and Blue is 60cN

Cherry Greens and buckling springs are around the same weight.

not in real life.  there's a HUGE diference between them.  BS is close to blue than to green.

Really? I have a Lexmark Model M circa 1993 as well as a DS3 Cherry Green and Storm Trigger Cherry Green. I just tried them (the Model M and the DS3) right after reading your post and they felt quite similar. The tactile bump on the Green may give the impression that it is stiffer/heavier, I'm no expert but they felt similar weight.

I am typing this post on my KBT Pure Pro Cherry Blue and it's definitely lighter than the buckling spring on my Model M.....

greens tire me out.  buckling spring does not.

I think the real difference might be the model m vs unicomp though.

also, sometimes people tend to ignore the 'bump bonus weight' when comparing weights.  I'm not sure why people do this because you must go through the bump to actuate the key anyways.

it makes sense when you're trying to compare SPRINGS, but it doesn't make sense when you're talking about real world usage.
