Best colored case fans you've used?

Fluffinator

I'm making an all blue build, and I want some case fans that are blue, and possibly have lighting. Anyone have experience with a build similar to this, or know of fans that they would recommend? Has to be quiet and move a good amount of air.

I'd get coloured fans, but not LED ones. Get a BitFenix Alchmey or a LED kit from NZXT. So that it's super bright and you can cover a larger area with the LED. Instead of having the light source at one end of the case, it's better to have to spread out IMO.

For fans I would recommend the

  • Cooler Master R4-L2R-20AC 120mm Blue LED Case Fan 2000RPM

I have them in my build and they're quite nice and pretty quite.

I was thinking about that after I saw Linus's video :P

Corsair SP120 with blue mod rings.
It's lovely quiet, the mod ring gives a nice accent of blue and black, and they in general look freakin' cool in my opinion

I have the regular ones that came with the h80i and they were loud so I didn't know if these were better lol

I have an h100i, and I never even unpacked the stock fans, because

1. They're fugly as hell

2. no rubber grommits/corners

3. No mod rings

4. they're grey, doesn't go well (in my opinion) with my black/red build.

are they significantly quieter would you say? or have you tried them at all by unpack I don't know if you mean took them out of your box or haven't put them in your case ever.

I never said they were significantly quieter O.o

You probably won't notice it if you have a closed PC (I have a 450D, so it's pretty open)

And no, I never took them out of the plastic baggie in the box they came in with my H100i.

I notice the base Corsair fans from like 1 room over it's that loud, so the base Corsair fans are VERY loud. That's why I'm skeptical on how quiet these are.

How many would I need? would one due for a case window?

serious ? If I sit on skype calls with music in the background I can't even hear it o_o

Only 1 of the stock fans that's a little broke, making some weird ticking sound, but just turn up the volume on skype/my music and it's no problem :D ..

Yea go for the Corsair SP120 with the blue mod rings and a LED kit from either BitFenix or NZXT (You can get them both in blue).

Hope it helped,

That ticking noise it sometimes caused by undervolting the fan. Just so you know

Well I think they're 30cm/300mm, so you could get away with one, but as I said they are super bright. Personally I would go for two and I have a Carbide 300R

hmm. I did have to connect a few of the resisting thingies that came with them to make it reach the fanheader I wanted (Dunno why it wasn't long enough), so that may be why ?

(and when I say a couple, I mean like 4)

If they are plugged directly to the mobo then you can set the rmp of the fan(s) but if connected through molex then the fan(s) will run at 100% full speed.

They arnt blue, but I would say get Noiseblocker Blacksilent PL-2's and a LED stip as the lighting from them looks much better than LED fans. Also the noiseblockers are part of that elite best fan group (with the noctua's and GT's) so they kinda crap all over the corsair fans.

Because I fan that has an LED is only going to light one area of the case, where as an LED covers a larger area. Plus it looks a lot better as @loccilucas said :)

As I said run both LED strips & LED fans at the same time. that's what I do and it looks 10x better then either of them by them selves, Blue 30cm Bitfenix Alchemy strips, Blue mega flow on the front, Blue AF140 on the back and and Blue Jetflos on my rad

A lot of money though, to replace the whole case, maybe in the future!
