Custom keys for my mechanical keyboard

Van Der Shah

I just won a keyboard : Cherry Mx Board 2.0 (Mx red - linear).

I was thinking whether I should change the keys Because the keys on this keyboard are low and kinda suck =p

It also feels really cheap and you feel like you could snap it with your bare hands. I was thinking of buying the custom keys from WASD Keyboards. Do you think it would be a good idea?

The two keys side by side is the Mechanical Key (left) and Membrane Key (right)

well, not really, it looks like they are good, unless you want it to be unique and you have the money for it, then yes go for it

it wont make your typing experience any better as those keycaps look pretty decent

make sure its the right profile. Some keyboards are low profile and I think yours is one of them.

Yeah. It's a Cherry Mx Board 2.0 (yes it's by Cherry itself.)

If my memory doesn't lie to me, Cherry uses switches with lower hub on this, so standard keycaps won't work. Honestly: Just sell the KB you've won and get a nicer one for a little extra. Cherry used to produce great keyboards if you didn't need extras like media buttons, but nowadays (since they moved their production out of Germany) the build quality of their KBs just sucks (fortunately only the KBs and not the switches).

not sure why people are saying such weird things here.....

the capslock has goofy stem placement on this model i believe.  replacing the capslock will be impossible.

keep this in mind.  unless you're okay with cutting the stem off and gluing it back on.

EDIT:

holy shit wasd is expensive.

just buy a ducky set from mechanicalkeyboards.com instead

or get a $25 set from keypop.net

there is NO reason to get WASD unless you get a custom printed design
