Help setting up two different networks

Savior

Currently I have 1 modem and 1 router. I am planning on purchasing a new router and am interested in using my old one to set up an additional network. I need some advice and assistance on what to do in order to make this happen.

The ultimate goal would be for my house to have two routers that are not effected by each other. This is because I have family moving into one area of my house and they would like their own network/router.

Thanks in advance

so you want to keep the old setup but add an AP?

Buy one router that does Vlans or if they only need wireless most new Wireless N routers will do guest SSIDs

Either tell them no, because your house and it's not that necessary, or just have them behind a NAT (double NAT!).
