I guess I've been living under a rock. // Just found out about Star Citizen

So I saw the demo at Pax east of the dogfighting module and it was AWESOME.

I am super interested in early-access to this game, alpha, beta, and final release.

I am however completely new to this type of game, never played a space sim/game before, but loving this one.

So I guess... how/where do I buy this game? Or I guess buy early-access, whatever

Is it money per month? Like ESO? One time payment, what do I need to buy/what should I buy

and lastly

how much is it gonna cost me?

Thanks so much to anyone that helps me... I'm just completely lost at this point.

In the beginning.....

:D

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away....

It is a period of civil war. Rebel

spaceships, striking from a hidden

base, have won their first victory

against the evil Galactic Empire.

During the battle, Rebel spies managed

to steal secret plans to the Empire's

ultimate weapon, the Death Star, an

armored space station with enough

power to destroy an entire planet.

Pursued by the Empire's sinister agents,

Princess Leia races home aboard her

starship, custodian of the stolen plans

that can save her people and restore

freedom to the galaxy...

Wanna hang out with me and people like @Theslsamg, @ Ssoele, @BENTHEREN, @Lanoi, @Whiskers, @_ASSASSIN_, @Looney, @WunderWuffle, and @nsyedhasan. Well.... Check out: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/48484-unofficial-linustechtips-teamschnitzel-server-teamspeak/

1. Purchasing the game can be done from the Store and with a 'Single Ship Package' like Aurora MR + etc. Which can be found here.

2. You will now need to be an 'Arena Commander' Pass for $5 to be in the Alpha as the slots have now filled up. Found here.

3. SC is a one off payment, no further subscription fees etc. $40 and you get Beta, the Persistent Universe (Multiplayer) and Squadron 42 (Campaign)
4. $40 If you want the game and Beta. You can buy more ships to support the game further too. I've spent $800+ on Star Citizen so far because I really want the game to be made :)

There's also a great thread on the RSI forums with EVERYTHING Star Citizen in it :D Found here.

Welcome to the 'Verse! :D

Like he said.

Too bad you've found out now, just yesterday they ran out of Alpha slots, so if you want to experience all of the alpha you'll have to buy those modules separately.

Also, check out the Star Citizen thread pinned here in this forums. Yeah, it's 178 pages long, but if you want to catch up to all of what we are up to, it's worth a read ;)

New to Star Citizen? Look no further!

Overhyped game that has a huge crowd funding. God why am I always so cynical. Might be able to buy into beta still, full release is only in 2015

Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.

As I get older I get angrier more cynical, meaner. I feel some warning posts coming. I feel a ban coming. I was warned.

while I respect you for that, and I wish I could help them that much, I'm short on money, so what's the cheapest package/version to get in to alpha, beta, whatever AND get the full game release when it does come out. Thanks.

Cheapest package. Don't buy it, save up and wait for release. Only reason this forum loves it because slick does, and everyone loves slick.

The cheapest package with Beta and Full Game is the Aurora MR+ found here. You will need to be an 'Arena Commander' Pass to get into the Alpha, as found here. So for $45USD you will get Access to the Alpha, Beta, Full game, a ship, some credits and the fact that you have supported the game :)

I know you just found out and think it's the best thing ever but wait a few days before you make a decision.

How many times have you seen a trailer/game play of a game that isn't out yet, thinking it'll be beast and turns out it's not good or not your style?

Hey there. You are looking mighty fine today, have my virtual cookie!

Not True. I was into Star Citizen before it became a big thing on these Forums so don't make us all sound like Slick fanboys that do everything he wants, which isn't true. I supported Star Citizen because I believed it was going to be the greatest game I've ever played, not because Slick backed.

for 5$ more overall, is the Aurora LN that much better? I could spend the 5 more if it's worth it, what do you think?

not really, buying it because I tried the alpha at logitech, it was AMAZING. loved the graphics, loved the style. I found out about Star Citizen before knowing LTT was into SC, and even way before knowing Slick/Linus will be involved.

So... Star Citizen > LTT > Slick/Linus

The Aurora LN is a Military/Combat Equipped version of the Aurora MR. Even without the better weapons it still has some nice features, so yes the $5 would be worth it in the long run :)
