anyone own the BenQ XL2420TE

ShiverMePenguins

what can you tell me about it? do you have a high quality ips display? how does it rank up? what is the ips display. in games you can hit the refresh limit on (like cs:go etc.) do you feel like you see the enemies that much sooner because of the refresh?

When in doubt, turn to thy great Linus:

In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only a GTX 1080, just a single 1080, where my glorious PC once stood....

For that is all I need, For the Emperor of Man, Jen-Hsun Huang, protects. We march for Nvidia, and we shall know no fear!

Because a competitive gamer pays more attention to screen tearing, input latency, response times, motion clarity, etc. Linus is not a competitive gamer nor does it seem those things matter when all is sacrificed for color.

Some odd responses, he reviews it like anyone would, he might not be a "competitive", but gives his honest opinion, i can help you out a bit and say that i have a 120hz benq monitor myself and it is great for gaming.

"do you feel like you see the enemies that much sooner because of the refresh?"

that really does not make much sense either, you are not gonna see enemies sooner because of the refresh rate, you are just gonna have a smoother overall experience in fast moving games.

You can't compare a gaming monitor like this to a IPS monitor either, i would say you get a gaming monitor for gaming and you get a IPS monitor for everything else.

If you really wanted the competitive advantage in csgo would would be going out and getting a CRT

1. The colors aren't nearly as good as you'd think from seeing Linus's video. The colors are still very washed out and there's noticeable banding. I've never owned an IPS panel, but I think it's safe to assume the BenQ doesn't compare at all.

2. It's very smooth. 60Hz looks choppy after playing at 120/144Hz. I haven't owned any other 120/144Hz monitors, so I don't know how the ghosting is compared to others. I don't notice any.

If you don't care about color at all, then it's worth getting.

I always thought that the justification for 120 over 60 was the fact that it was much smoother in fast paced situations such as switching between targets rather than spotting people earlier

Its smoother in everything. You even notice it in WIndows with the mouse pointer and Window dragging, its really dramatically smoother. I have the XL2411T and its a decent enough monitor, the colour gamut is certainly lower than my IPS screen (Dell 2410) and I think my main complaint is its too bright but the smoothness of it really makes a big difference.
