Rust

Sonefiler

Hey guys! I just got the new game Rust. It's still in Alpha, and it's $20. That game is demanding as CRAP. When I set it to the highest settings my graphics card fans just go up and up and up. Crysis 3 might have a competitor...

My fans are going up to 80%. I'll monitor my GPU temps and see what happens.

GPU at 100% load. going up to 60 C in a couple of seconds. Fans incredibly noisy. It's only on Good setting, so Idk what is going on. This must be a bug because I am running it basically at Medium settings, 1080p, and it's heating up 20 C in a matter of seconds.

Also, MBAM is blocking "malicious websites" when I open Rust. Is MBAM being overly sensitive or...?

What exactly are your pc specs? Maybe there's a bottleneck.. Such are your GPU, more than likely. More info please!

On a side note, beside Rust drop-kicking your GPU in the face, how is the game anyways? Some info here too please; quite interested. :)

I have a 4670K, was OCed to 4.6 until Crysis 3 drop-kicked over locked things, with an H100i, and a R9 290 from PowerColor. It's usually very quiet.

I don't know. I'm too scared that my GPU will explode to play.

What the hell... That's just quite odd my friend.

I'm not sure what to say as of right now. I'll try and do a little research for you and let you know what I come up with, if anything.

Although, with those parts.. In no way is that normal.

If it helps at all, my exhaust fans emit almost no heat at all. My CPU block is warm, but it always is.

I have a theory: I don't think there is a frame cap for Rust, so it's probably running at 500000000FPS. So the fans speed up. Would that make sense at all? If so, is there a way to limit it?

Do you at least have all the latest drivers? Check for new ones.

I'm very new. I have Catalyst 13.12 and all the newest motherboard drivers (I downloaded them 2 days ago). Are those the newest ones?

Well, besides the Beta Driver (Catalyst v14.3) yes, 13.12 is the newest.. Hmmm.. Not sure man!

Here's the beta though.. Maybe, just maybe, it'll fix your issues. Drivers are quite known to do that. And even if the Beta one doesn't work out, you can always uninstall and go back.

I figure it's worth a try, with such a weird issue.

Put on V-Sync and see if it changes anything, that way it will see if your hypothesis is correct. Pretty sure you can run it maxed out on a 670.

Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.

This is odd, I run rust pretty well at "good" graphics settings with my AMD Phenom II X4 820, and my GTX-570.

Yeah, it's weird. I tried it at "good" with a 4670K and r9 290 and fans go up to 60% and temps go up 20C.

Rust is great if you like working for hours to build a nice house, then being raided in the night, killed, then starting over.

Rust has had known issues with Radeon cards. Gary posted something about it in a DevBlog awhile back. My 7970 had lots of trouble when when the game first came out.

Well that sounds rather scary!

But I'll probably give this a try in the near future.

It's awesome! I downloaded the beta drivers, and my crashes and weird fans and temps are gone.

Ok, great, so my advice helped?

I figured.. Drivers are usually the root of a lot of evil!
