EVGA Hadron Air vs Silverstone Raven RVZ01

dbcooper

Hi guys, im building a m itx pc but i cant decide between these two cases. I like the fact that the Hadron has a metalic outside vs the plastic of the raven. But i also like the console shape of the raven...

I dont need water cooling capabilities and im building a pretty basic setup (i5 + 7850 2Gb OC + 8GB ram + SSD).

Which one looks smaller?

I have a Prodigy and it is HUGE! How are these two compared to the prodigy?

Which one would you choose?

Sold my build..

The thing about the paintjob and the PSU cable colors doesent bother me at all... Basically the only thing that matters to me is size, the smaller, the better.

Does the Hadrons's PSU have some fault apart from the cable colors?

im not talking about the cables of the psu but the size and how loud it is. also about the cables their all naked so you see the ugly yellow and stuff

The Hadron Air is ridiculously small. ~15 x 30 x 30cm. That's about as small as they come. They cheaped out on the paint job based on the HWCanucks video. The PSU is proprietary: 80Plus Gold, Non-Modular, but exceptionally slim (flexATX perhaps, maybe a server grade PSU)- which allows for the very small size of the case. The price is proportionately higher given it's a case and PSU combo.

The RVZ01 is very interesting in that it requires an SFX PSU to keep it slim (surprise surprise Silverstone is also the leading brand for SFX PSUs) and it uses a hard PCIE riser to lay the GPU parallel to the Motherboard, also helping to keep the slim profile (a crazy 10.5cm thick). Based on the LinusTechTips build video involving this case, building in this case should be complicated. But if you like that it looks like a console then more power to you. In fact, consoles also have a lot of plastic in them. Appropriate.

Both cases are innovative and interesting. Make your pick. :)

Also the Hadron can only take 10.5" graphics cards, while the RVZ01 can take 13" cards. I don't know exactly how long your 7850 is so I can't make that judgement.

I personally like the shape of the Hadron Air more than the RVZ01 but cooling seems to be better/easier in the RVZ01. Hadron Air only has 2 exhaust fans, RVZ01 has room for 3 fans and let's you play with positive or negative airflow. RV01 also seems to be able to hold more SSDs.

If you like the look of the RVZ01 I'd go with that one.

Thanks, the 7850 is 8,26 inches so it will fit pretty much anywhere... Have you seen both cases? Because i havent seen neither.. Which one looks smaller?

I would suggest watching the HardwareCanucks videos on both of them if you haven't already.

The dimensions are 382 x 105 x 350mm for the RVZ01 and 169 x 305 x 308 for the Hadron. What can I say? The Hadron is about 6cm wider, and the RVZ01 is 8cm taller and 5cm longer. They're both pretty small- certainly smaller than the prodigy (250 x 404 x 359mm). It's up to you really.

You might also want to check out this thread I started about mITX cases:

and here's one I discarted personally because it doesn't fit 10.5" graphic cards:

Just a little bigger than the RZV01 and Hadron Air.

Are these two the smallest cases capable of holding a dual slot video card? Or is there a smaller one?

have you considered in win 901?

Yeah, we're all just a bunch of idiots experiencing nothing more than the placebo effect.

InWin 901 dimensions are 350 x 173 x 400mm, larger in every dimension than the RVZ01, though not quite as big as the prodigy.
