Any idea how I could possibly get this to work at all?

Cwazywazy

So, my APU is an A8-3850 and it has a Radeon 6550D in it. I use a 650ti card instead of the APU but I want to be able to run the 6550D at the same time as the 650ti so I could use it for folding or something like that since I game a lot on the 650ti and while doing that I obviously can't fold. I'm not able to find an answer to my question so I'm asking if anyone has any idea how I could get the BIOS to not automatically disable the APU when I put in the Nvidia card?

So wait are you asking like have one application on 6550D and another on 650Ti? Or Dual Graphics kind of thing?

I doubt that Dual graphics would work because that is an AMD technology.... I hope this is what you were asking

Oh and you can choose what applications use the 650Ti and what uses the iGPU... Use the global setting thing in nvidia control panel to change the application for folding to use the iGPU. But i am not sure about if the AMD drivers will allow it

The 6550D is not that powerful from what i know....

No, not what I'm asking at all. I want to be able to have the 6550D do it's own thing (Mining/folding) while I can continue to game on the rest of the hardware. I don't really care that it's not very powerful, I just wanna see if I can do it.

no it will not work

by default when you install a dedicated GPU the onboard iGPU will be disabled

an for dual graphics to work, you need to pair it with a AMD card not nVidia

I am not trying to do dual graphics. I know you can't do it without another 65xx card. I'm asking if I can had the 6550D running SEPARATELY while the 650ti powers my screens. (I used to do it with my 650ti and a 8800GTS but I took it out.)

you will have to consult the mobo manual to see if there is a feature to re enable the iGPU

otherwise I would say the answer is no

Yeah like i explained, "Oh and you can choose what applications use the 650Ti and what uses the iGPU... Use the global setting thing in nvidia control panel to change the application for folding to use the iGPU. But i am not sure about if the AMD drivers will allow it"

what i meant is that you can choose what programs use GT 650Ti, and whatever does not use the GT will be done by iGPU

Er, um.. That's not my issue..

The problem is that the BIOS disables the iGPU when it sees the Nvidia GPU. (Locked dual graphics settings. I could change these settings when I had my 7750 card even though it didn't do anything.)
