So i am finally moving from IOS to Andriod. I know a little bit about Andriod phones but i was wondering if you guys could help me out. Looking for a phone with good specs., 5inch screen, clean looking interface and a good camera. Also is it better to buy the phone on contract or unlocked from Amazon ect?

If under contract, just go into the desired Carrier and just hold a bunch of phones to see how you like the feel of them. Personally I like the HTC one M8, but phones are such a personal thing that it is best to just go in and try out a bunch that you think look good. A lot of the new phones are pretty powerful so it is mostly about feel.

I am still kind of amazed at how common it is to get a phone under contract in the US and Canada. I don't know anyone here that does that, although I know some people still do. Is that like part of your liberal use of credit or something?

Nexus 5 Master Race! B)  I love mine

Also off contract. You pay one time. Cheaper in the long run.

Been reading though the forums and that phones seems to be praised.

My brother has the HTC One (M8) i don't like the slippery feel of it. Plus the camera isn't great.

Contract or unlocked depends if you have the money to pay for the phone or not. How much do you want to spend ?

Don't really want to spend more than £600.

Yeah, that feel is either a love or hate thing, nexus 5 though would nice choice as others have said.

Yeah other than that and a couple of other minor things the phone is great but not for me. Thanks anyway. Most likely get the Nexus 5.

Hmmmm. Not sure if you read the part me saying "My brother has the HTC One (M8) i don't like the slippery feel of it. Plus the camera isn't great"

LG G2, Samsung Galaxy S4, Note3, SONY Xperia Z2. Those are my top picks for the moment. I'll be waiting for the LG G3 to come out tho'... If you wanna wait you could wait for OnePlus One or LG G3 like me. I expect it to be released in September. By then you could get something second-hand on the cheap like the note2 or Galaxy S3 - bothe superb phones even by todays standards.

That said I'm not a big fan of NEXUS 5, nor 4 for that matter, they just don't feel like a superphone to me, more like a basic smartphone. I grew accustomed to using micro SD cards ever since I sold my 3GS when Galaxy S1 was released here. Android FTW IMHO. But if you don't feel like you need the expandable storage via SD cards, I can only recommend LG G2 as a co-worker owns one and it's beautiful in white (the only phone I liked in white - ever), and the bezels are ultra thin which makes it stand out. It's UI is even better than samsungs and HTC's (and I'm a hardcore samsung user, currently own a Note2). The only downside for me is the positioning of the buttons (beneath the camera on the back), but I suppose that's something you can learn to live with. The chipset is boss, camera is great, and it has OIS. Screen is beautiful also.

Galaxy S4 is also a great device, and I like it much more than the S5 which I feel is a half-ass device which looks horrible. S4 looks much much better IMHO.

If you want battery life there's only one smartphphone to get: Note2 hands down. I'm not talking about some syntethic tests or graphs here either, I'm talkina about real life usage. Just get the 3g version as in my experience the 4G variant (which my brother owns) has a slightly smaller battery life. It will outlive motorola razr maxx, note3 or any other android superphone you compare it to. It's the only reason I'm still using it to this day. I don't have to bring a charger with me when I go away on a 2-3 day trip with data and bluetoorh constantly enabled.

Intel 4770k@4.6GHz, ASUS ROG Maximus VI Hero, Kingston HyperX Beast 2x8GB 2400MHz CL11, Gigabyte GTX 1070 Gaming, Kingston HyperX 3k 240GB - RAID0 (2x120Gb), 2xWD 1TB (Blue and Green), Corsair H100i, Corsair AX860, CoolerMaster HAF X, ASUS STRIX Tactic pro, Logitech G400S, HyperX Cloud II, Logitech X530, Acer Predator X34.

The rumours for the LG G3 looks good but i think i will be buying Nexus 5 32GB "or OnePlus One" and when the time comes for the release of the LG G3 and it impresses me i will sell the Nexus 5 and buy the LG G3.
