Sanctum 2 was good, goes on steam sales for less than 5$ for a 4 pack from time to time; don't know about light on the computer but meh.  Left 4 dead, again don't know what you consider light.  Could always try http://www.co-optimus.com/ and see what they think is popular.

Old games like Battlefield 1942, BF Vietnam used to have bots for multplayer matches. Star Wars Battlefront II had that too, a bi*** to run on win8 though.

Saints Row II, III and IV ar all coop. I don't know how light of a system you can use for those though.....

Freelancer. super old, but for everyone who wants to get warmed up for star citizen again this might be nice.

Rainbow6 Vegas.

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory

Saints row 3 is fantastic co-op. Not too demanding. My 670 got 120fps at max settings.

Trine 2 is brilliant

Killing Floor... which was already mentioned. It's a very light game, I was running it at 80fps on a 6 year old laptop. I would wait for it to go on sale though. It's usually on sale for like $5 during each big Steam sale, and especially around Halloween.

The Mann vs Machine mode in Team Fortress 2 is also pretty fun. Can be relatively difficult, as well. Lots of teamwork required.

I know: Serious Sam!

One of the best coop games ever! ;-)

You can play with 2-16 players through the "campaign".  It even has splitscreen support for pc. So you could hook up two gamepads and just chill in front of your TV! Good times!
