Silent is Silent

TheToxicgamer97
Go to solution Solved by loccilucas,

yep, noctua fans are silent and have rubber mounts, same with noiseblocker PL-2's and apparently Gentle Typhoons are completely silent aswell although I don't have any fist hand experience of them. Basically make sure every fan in the system is a noctua, Gente Typhoon or noiseblocker PL-2 and you'll have a very very quiet system.

Hello,

I'm not sure if I'm putting this in the right category, but anyway, I want to make my PC as silent as possible. My main concern right now is anti-vibration fan mounts. I'm not exactly sure if certain rubber grommets are better than others, which would explain my I'm here.I am also u sure of where to buy rubber grommets. If have any good reccomendations of brands and places to buy, that would be appreciated :)

It doesn't matter if you have anti-vibration mounts if the fan still makes noise so if you want a completely silent computer then your going to have to make every fan a Noctua.

"Silent is silent" is a quote from a Linus video. Full quote "Silent is silent. And not silent is not silent" I put that as my title because he got genuinely upset how the internet doesn't know silence xD

Rubber mounts for fans are rubber mounts, the differences between are very minor, just make sure they are made of very soft pliable rubber. Try places like FrozenCPU or ebay.

These ones aren't bad:

Gentle Typhoons

They're quiet as long as there under 7.5 volts so if you're not running them at near full speed they're great.

Check my edited post. They're quieter and move more air than the NF-F12

when they are in a system though the difference in sound and performance is pretty much nothing, abit like comparing 1 F1 car to another F1 car, 1 might be better but not by alot.

you could go for a passively cooled system. so that means zero fans.

Noctua fans come with rubber mounts, for example. For a very silent system, you should get Noctua, Silverstone Air penetrators, Gelid Wings. Also undervolt them. I've also heard people saying that the Gentle Typhoons are quite good too.

I have one and it is dead quiet and makes a column of air.

GT's are THE quietest fan right now. If there was something better, more people would know about it.

But, then again, not many people know about GT's

They didn't even mention which fans they were comparing it to. For all we know, they were comparing it to some fan from 1984

That noise is because of the GT's frame. Notice how when the place down the grille, it makes a loud clink on the GT? That doesn't happen on the Silverstone fan. So either they boosted the noise levels or something.
