Hi I currently have a 550w thermaltake PSU and it is getting to the point of maxing out. I have a ASUS 780 and 2HDDs as well as a sound card and a i7 3770k.  I was hoping on getting some suggestions on what one to get. My Budget is around $150 CAD hoping you can help. I would like it to be a fully modular if that is possible. Not planning on sli

It's probably overkill but I'd go with an 800w just so you can have some overhead for additional expansion in the future.

That should give you good efficiency and performance as well as prevent you from ever having to worry about not having enough power :)

A quality 550w PSU is enough to power your system, in which you do not need to upgrade it. Although, Thermaltake has a rather confusing lineup, where they mix various of platforms from OEMs in a single series. Depending on which 550w unit you have, I would probably recommend you get a proper unit anyways.

Unless of course, you are planning to SLI?

Also, where are you able to buy from? $150 USD, CAD, AUD, NZD, etc can have an effect on what you get. Edit: Apparently CAD. I probably overlooked that or you added it in.

Since you aren't going to SLI and have a budget of $150 CAD, the XFX XTR 550/650 would power it. It's a Seasonic G unit internally that offer full modularity and a higher quality FDB fan.

But I am looking for something about 800w+ if that means I need a bigger budget i can do that because I have one now (about $200 CAD)

Your PSU will supply what your computer need regardless if its a 550w or 1000w. Considering how you have no plans to SLI, it's a no-return investment if you are going to spend money on something that you aren't going to used. You are better off saving that ~$100 for something else. Possibly a SSD.

Pricing and availability of the Seasonic G Series 550W is better than the XFX XTR 550W on Amazon and Newegg. Look for both units on whichever website or store you intend to buy from before you make a decision. Other than than, +1 to quan's posts. 800W is inefficient for your system, and unnecessarily empties your wallet.
