Youtube content in 60 frames per second? Yes please.

In before "omfg CoC plx no not alloud!!one11shift", the video is just to show you the potentional of Youtube supporting native 60FPS footage.

That video is recorded in 60FPS, slowed down to 50% and uploaded.

If you set the video playback speed to x2 you will have a 60FPS video of Battlefield 4.

So this looks really smooth and better in my opinion, altough the sound is weird in the video it would be a big improvement for Youtube in general to support 60FPS video.

Okay, I know the change from 30 to 60 is big, it requires more bandwith and storage space etc etc to store all the videos on their servers but.

It's 2014, we have fast internet ( Fiber, etc ) and Google has alot of money to make step up their game and this would be kind of revolutionairy.

What's your opinion on future 60FPS video support for Youtube and maybe also other websites ( Vimeo or any other video sharing website).

Or they could start supporting 60fps like twitch does.

Do they already? Wasn't aware of that.

why is it slowed to 50% ???

sounds stupid to me

To let you set the speed to x2, that makes the video play back in 60FPS instead of 30FPS with the right speed.

thats really cool i wish it was native

maybe i should upload my videos in 1440p upscaled to 4k to get the high bitrate, and then upload at 50% speed for 60fps

that would be badass

I hope youtube stops decreasing the bandwith available and lets the people with good connections watch their stuff with the best possible quality and the others can continue to watch everything on 240p. aaaand they need to make the audio quality adjustable without changing the resolution.

it's time for some jolly cooperation!

Well now we have the choice of our resolution, why not do something like "1080p 30fps" and "1080p 60fps"?

probably because people would need to upload 2 versions which means it needs to be recorded in 2 versions since if you just cut the frames by half it would be all crap

They will not have to do it, like you do not need to upload in 1080p now. People that can record and upload in 60fps should have the option to do so, and viewers can see it in 60fps or in 30fps.

I wonder how much extra space would be taken up if every single YT video was 60fps... (double??)

Funny because my frame rate on YouTube is so choppy lately and I don't know how to fix it.

When YouTube decides to move over to HTML5 for good, essentially dumping Flash, 60FPS video can become a reality. The problem is that Flash runs in to tonnes of problems with 60FPS video, like stuttering, really high CPU usage just for the decoding alone, etc.

It's about time they move over, really.

That's so cool! I only just realised YouTube added a video playback speed modifier; this is a really clever trick from the uploader! It makes it much nicer to watch. Although it looks like the speed modifier adjusts the audio to stay the same, in which case you'd need to make the video audio the normal pitch after having slowed it down.

It does lose some of the cinematic quality though, which was nice for some gameplay videos :/

I can run twitch at 60 pretty easy, at 480p but still...

Same as you adjust the video quality, there's an option to adjust the playback speed.

Fastest consumer internet over here in australia is gonna be 25 Mbps. I wouldn't say we're going that bad economically either.
