Samsung U28D590D 4K Monitor

It was £479 in the UK but suddenly they pulled it off....

I hope to god it's not 700...I would love one of these even if a single 780ti can't run MAXED games ya can always drop the res too around 2560x1440 or 1980x1080 these are the resolutions I am more inclined to use.

I WANT IT D:<

Odd that it's suddenly unavailable. Hope that isn't gonna affect my order. I still have an eta of 1st May showing. Mayb they have sold out and samsung are struggling with demand.

just so everyone knows I found what was causing the flickering it was my sli bridge DO NOT buy the evga Pro sli bridges with the L.E.D.'s  they will cause massive flickering and vertical tearing when couple with this 4k monitor I can verify that both the 3way and 4 way bridges cause this problem cause I own one of each i switched to a standard sli bridge and problem solved it is probably the the LED's causing interference and it only shows up in 4k 1080p and 1440p run fine with no sign of this problem btw post processing of any kind aggravates the issue drastically

So I spoke to amazon yesterday as I was concerned that my monitor still had not been dispatched. They ensured me that it was a computer glitch, and the monitor was in fact on the way. So it's 4am here (I work nights) and I have just received this email (the monitor is due today)

"Hello,

We're still trying to obtain the following item you ordered on April 05 2014 (Order# 203-5306732-0674732).

Not very happy.

I was thinking of a "budget" 4K gaming upgrade.  Would 2 GTX770's (4GB flavor) in SLI drive this thing at 60 fps???  I saw on Paul's Hardware the "Are We Ready For 4K Yet" video with him telling us pretty much no...  2 770's 4GB are cheaper than 2 780 Ti's which only have 3GB and that frame buffer for 4k isn't enough it seems...

I've got two 780s in SLI and three 2560x1440 screens and I have to run both BF4 and Crysis 3 at 5760x1080 (well, 6000x1080) because I hit into the VRAM limit. You could alternately turn the settings down to medium etc but anyway running at 6000x1080 I get anywhere from 30-60+ (fps limiter is at 60) and that's on Ultra for BF4 no AA and half Ultra, half High for Crysis 3.

Anyway for some hard numbers follow this link:

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/geforce_gtx_770_sli_review,22.html

Then for 4k multiply the FPS that SLI 770s get there by 0.75.  ((5760x1080)/(3840x2160)=0.75)

Just note that they are applying AA to some of those games there which you most likely won't need to do at 4k.

I think it is possible it all depends on the games I was able to get tomb raider and bioshock infinite to run on 1 titan just by tweaking the settings (unreal enginge is quite forgiving and beautiful in 4k) and 770sli is more powerful (aroun40-50%) than a single titan and sardis is right turn off all AA even Fxaa with 4k that is a killer even with my 4way titan sli if I am really lucky I can get fxaa or 2xmsaa but I drop from 60fps to 45-55 and the image improvement is unnoticeable unless you are less than 12 inches from the screen

  • 3 weeks later...

Thanks for the reply although I'm a little late.  I bought the card from EVGA not knowing about their Step up program.  Quite a nice surprise.  I am "trading" in my 770 for a 780Ti, so half way there...

I7-4770K/ 16GB GSkill Trident X (CAS 7)/ ASUS M6I/ 2x Samsung 840 EVOs/EVGA GTX770/ Corsair RM650, 350D, M65, K95, H100 & MM400.  Yes, I am a Corsair fanboy.

I've been searching for the specs of this monitor for a while to confirm the displayport rev and to see if it will support FreeSync.

I watched the video and Linus noted it has Displayport 1.2 not 1.2a...

I'm sad now :(

Don't get me wrong though, i love the monitor ;)
