750ti vs 760

pandaAVM

Hey guys, I'm currently planning out my first ever gaming/media rig and I came to a difficult decision between choosing a gtx750ti or a gtx760. I wanted to choose the 760 for performance purposes but with the incoming 800 series, I was thinking about saving my money by choosing the 750ti and wait for it to die on me to buy an upgraded gpu. With that said, do you guys think it would be the better choice to go with the 750ti and wait?

Here's a part breakdown of my build.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($204.75 @ Vuugo)

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H87M-D3H Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($109.99 @ NCIX)

Memory: Kingston 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($75.21 @ DirectCanada)

Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk  ($96.08 @ DirectCanada)

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($89.79 @ DirectCanada)

Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card  ($169.99 @ NCIX) or EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB Video Card ($279.99 @ NCIX)

Case: Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case  ($55.75 @ DirectCanada)

Power Supply: XFX 750W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($89.99 @ NCIX)
Total: $891.31 or $1001.31

In either case, the psu is overkill--even for a 760 sli.

What's the system being used for?

You're probable better off saving up without getting a graphics card if you intend to just get a 800 series card. Otherwise, get the best you can afford within reason.

Yeah, I know the PSU is overkill. My uncle who works at IBM as a technologist suggested that I get at least a 650W PSU. I'm second guessing his suggestion and think that I should get a 550W PSU instead.

If your going to wait for a better and faster GPU youll be waiting forever.

Go with the 760.

My budget for a GPU is less than $300. Would this be a better investment? http://www.ncix.com/detail/msi-geforce-gtx-760-oc-13-85445-1296.htm

You could run a 750 Ti off of an oem 250w and a 760 off of a good 450w. 650w is enough for sli.

Just get the cheapest aftermarket 760--they're all very similar.
