Kraken G10 with a H50 on a Sapphire 290x.

Hey guys, I picked up a Sapphire 290x ref for 363 shipped, and I grabbed a H50, I'll be picking up a kraken G10 soon. Anyone have any idea what temps I will be looking at vs the reference? Also, does anyone know that vrmsinks will work with the 290x with a kraken on it?

Down from the 95C load temperatures of the Ref 290X the Kraken G10 with a Corsair H50 should run at around 55-65C at load. Idle temps will also be about 10C lower than the stocks coolers.

As for VRM Sinks check out these: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CJRZP9I/ref=cm_sw_su_dp Those with some thermal adhesive placed on the memory and VRM should keep it nice and cool :)

PS: Welcome to the LTT Forums :D

My Current Build:

Intel i5 3570K @ 4.4GHz 1.11V, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, Asrock Z77 Extreme4, Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz, Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, Asus GTX 760 DCII Overclocked, Corsair CX600M

Thanks bro, I had another account here a long time ago, but forgot my password, I think the original username was Balto but, oh well.

More OT: How do you know it will run so cool? I personally searched google for around 45 minutes prior to making this thread, and I couldn't find any cases of someone using a H50 with a kraken, other then one user that used it with Titan and saw a 10-15C drop in temps under load. Also I'm not worried about the memory, it's just the VRM I'm worried about. I did read a review where the VRM under load was going up to around 100C, which makes me uncomfortable.

Edit: I almost wonder if these would work... They look like they are the same size as VRM chips lol... http://www.ebay.com/itm/AluminumPC-VGA-Card-Xbox360-PS-DDR-RAM-Memory-Cooling-Heat-Sink-Heatsink-/181355554058?pt=US_Memory_Chipset_Cooling&hash=item2a39a2250a

I wasn't able to find any benchmarks with the H50 either but I found plenty for the Kraken X40 with a Kraken G10 and based on the CPU cooling benchmarks the Kraken X40 only performs a little bit better than the Corsair H50 so I assume on the Kraken G10 they will have around the same performance also. I find that most of the Kraken G10 benchmarks with the Kraken X40 and a Ref R9 290 lower the load temps on the GPU from around 95C with the stock cooler to around 50C with the liquid cooling so I predict that the Kraken G10 with a H50 will cool the R9 290 to about 60-65C at load.

I highly recommend putting small copper (Copper performs better than the aluminum heatsinks) heatsinks on the VRM components to stop them from running at 100C.

Cool, and I never thought about comparing CPU benchmarks between the 2 coolers... Good idea. Those other heatsinks you linked me to won't fit on the VRM's though, will they? I thought the VRM chips were really small...
