New Gaming Headset

PapaSimmz

Perhaps, perhaps not. I have not heard the H Wireless because I find no need for it but I really doubt it's quality. Perhaps someone that has listened to both can let me know but I don't think there is anyone on this forum that has.

That would be great.  I actually wish there was.

And to clarify, I'm in no way saying there isn't a degradation in sound quality when it comes to wireless.  I just don't think it's as pronounced as you're making it out to be.  I could be wrong though.  It wouldn't be the first time.

I guess that could also be why the bass isn't there, if the pads aren't meeting the head properly that will compromise the sound quite a bit.

After doing further research i found out that they are just made with less bass than i would like, and to response to everyone, my desk doesn't quite have the real estate for an external mic.

That's fair.  It just didn't seem like he had completely ruled it out.  I think you're also being pretty harsh on wireless.  A quality wireless headset will still sound better than cheaper headsets.  They all have their benefits and drawbacks.

The concept of wireless is great but i had the G930's, three times i had to send them back for problems, not weither that was with my set up and interference or i genuinely had bad drivers everytime, idk so im just staying away from them.

Can't have everything especially if it must have a mic. I think the confort issue is either bad shipping (which he should RMA it) or just hasn't been broken in yet. I am a bit confused at what he means the earpads were smushed in shipping though.

Edit: and I would prefer he didn't waste a lot of money on a new set of headphones because those are actually pretty good.

They come pack tightly in a cheap carrying case and they has a foam line strip to keep the ear cups from touching each other. This foam lining part (it is litterally a little piece of foam, not attached to anything) pushed in the top of the ear cups so i top is always pushed in while the bottom part of the ear cup is where it was designed to be so the top is closer to the drivers while the bottom isnt, this is causing them to not fit properly on my head.

Why MUST the mic be attached?

A good pair of headphones with a modmic or ZM-MIC1 is always always a better option,

unless it's for a very specific situation, in which case you really should let us know what that situation is.

Steelseries H Wireless supposedly has great sound and a built in mic that is retractable.  Linus did a review on it as well.  They were also just $288 on amazon.

I really want a nice wired headset with a mic built in that has great bass that has ovular ear cups like sennhiser has. The reason for this kind of ear cup is that my head is large and when i got the razer krakens then didnt even physically fit on my head where they should.

How much you want for the game zero? I'll buy them from you, but anyway I would go with the corsair 1500, very sleek and looks sexy. If you want plain comfortable I'll go with the Astro a40, my friend have them and I wore them and I swear it was like two baby butts on my eyes (hence the saying soft as a baby butt)

....how much

I use the Steelseries Siberia Elite Headset, they're not too bad. The ear cups do cover the ears but it is small. It does come with it's own sound card and a built in extendable mic. Good price for a good headset.

see reply above about earcup size

I think it's just because you don't have an amp. That headphone is 150 ohms and I've heard of someone else complain about the same thing and it was amazing after they got a sound card. You should try a Syba dac/amp first or buy a cheap asus xonar. And if you want to go balls to the wall you can get an o2.

can an amp boost bass?

What headset would you suggest for great bass with large earcups

Impedance is not a static value. It is different for every frequency. Apparently, the bass is harder to drive since someone had the same problem but once he got an amp, they sounded great. Likely, your motherboard isn't able to drive them properly. If you do want an amp, the o2 amp is on Massdrop for $100 which is a steal. Those are usually like $140.

Edit: If you want a mic attached then there are very little options. I actually don't know of any that have heavy bass. Would a modmic or a v-moda boompro be okay?

Here, what would you suggest, links and everything for $300 dollars? The only stipulation being it should have plenty of bass and very comfortable earcups

For open headphones:

Beyerdynamic DT990, O2 amp from Massdrop, and modmic

http://www.amazon.com/Beyerdynamic-DT-990-Pro-250-Professional-Acoustically-Applications/dp/B0011UB9CQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1397945071&sr=8-1&keywords=dt+990

https://www.massdrop.com/buy/jds-labs-o2-amp

http://www.modmic.com/ (4.0 version out very soon and I would suggest getting that.)

For closed:

Same as above but with DT770 instead. I believe the 770 has slightly less bass than the 990 but still sufficient. I also have one in the Classifieds with a custom cable.

V-Moda M-100 with modmic or boompro

http://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-Crossfade-Over-Ear-Noise-Isolating-Headphone/dp/B00A39PPDK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1397946077&sr=8-1&keywords=v-moda+m100

For Semi-open:

Mayflower modded Fostex T50RP with modmic. Note that these may or may not need additional amping depending on you rmotherboard. I use these with an O2 amp. These have a lot of isolation especially when sound is on so they are closer to closed than open. And these also only come with a cable that ends in 1/4in. You will either need to buy a cable or an adapter for it. Mayflower has a nice cable on their site as well.

My personal favorite are the V3s but they could require an amp. I have personally used DT770 and then I got an o2 amp and the V3s and it blew me away. I really like the V3s. The V-Moda is bassier than the Beyers but do not know how they compare to the V3s.

.....wow.......thank you so much for all that information. Once Sennhiser gets back to me about a refund (or if that guy is serious about buying it) im probably going to try the V3 with the O2 amp.

A sound card has a DAC and amp in it but external solutions like the O2 are much better. A dac converts the digital signal to analog so you can hear it but the sound is very low when it comes out so an amp will be needed to make it louder. Onboard solutions are very good so there is pretty much no improvement to getting another DAC but it might not get loud enough so you will need an amp with some headphones.

So if i was getting the V3's with that DAC, all it will do is make it louder? How to eliminate the static sound?

-snip-

The 770 does not have less bass than the 990, just different. The 770 emphasizes deep bass below 100Hz with excellent extension while the 990 peaks around 100-200Hz. The 990 would probably be far too boomy for some genres or tastes.

The o2 amp I linked is not a DAC. Just an amp. It will make things louder and the static depends on where the source of the static comes from but maybe. It also helps to get audio components out of the case so that would be possible too.

Don't buy "gaming" headphones, nearly all of them are total rip-offs. They know gamers are willing to pay more for headphones, so they put fancy branding on 'em, advertise a bunch of flashy features, slap 'em on the ass, and ship them off to be sold for three times what they should cost.

So the best thing to eliminate the static would be the AMP?
