mATX pcie alignment in an ATX case

Kaon

I really tried googling this for an hour, i couldn't find anything reliable so i'm turning to you guys.

If i'm fitting a mATX board into an ATX case, will the board itself be at the top or bottom? I foolishly bought an mATX case that can't take a second graphics card so i was thinking that i would buy a normal case so the last slot on the board could be used.

Does this make sense? Am i missing something really, really simple here?

Thanks for any help.

It would fit to the top of the case and align with the IO cutout on the back. So at the top of the case.

Case: Corsair Vengeance C70 Gunmetal Black CPU: i7-4770k Cooler: Corsair H100i RAM: 8gb Corsair Vengeance Pro GPU: ASUS Direct CUII 770 MOBO: Asus Maximus VI Hero PSU: EVGA Supernova 1000 G2

mATX boards do fit in ATX cases and all of the slots will line up; as far as telling if you can use 2 graphic cards we will need to know what motherboard you bought.

System CPU : Ryzen 9 5950 doing whatever PBO lets it. Motherboard : Asus B550 Wifi II RAM 80GB 3600 CL 18 2x 32GB 2x 8GB GPUs Vega 56 & Tesla M40 Corsair 4000D Storage: many and varied small (512GB-1TB) SSD + 5TB WD Green PSU 1000W EVGA GOLD

You can trust me, I'm from the Internet.

It'll look a bit like this random photo I found on the googles..

Yes, everything fits and lines up perfectly, but you just have this awkward looking gap in between the PSU and the motherboard.

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

That's what i was looking for, the last slot on that board is where my last x16 slot is so i think my plan will work.

could use the 350D as it has 5-PCI slots for a vertical case. other than the

ProdigyM and some off-shoot cases to have 5 slots most have only the four.

it is kinda the reason i didn't get the giggy sniper because of that 8 slot on

the bottom.

What do you think of putting a second gpu there? would there be enough space between the psu and the gpu(like an EVGA with ACX) to not get choked? I haven't been able to find a picture showing that clearance.

Oh my, it's too close to the PSU, it definitely has to be the reference blower style cards. Thanks for the images.
