Suggestions for Modding Old Macbook Pro

I have an old Macbook Pro 15 inch Late 2008 version. The fans are always running and it sometimes over heats. I am looking for suggestions on modding it to make it cooler but also look cooler. I have heard of people coloring the keyboard's backlight, but haven't found a good guide on it. I also want to cut out some of the aluminum and make windows to show the insides. And some ventilation slits on the bottom. I am willing to try suggestions people give however I am semi limited in terms of tools. I don't have a full machine shop. Let me know what you would do.

The cooling problem can be fixed easily with re-applying thermal past/pads .

 

Removing the lcd cover to cut out a logo is a bit harder to do.

 

To change the colors of the led you can put a thin colored plastic film under the keyboard or change led's.

put a ssd in in stead off a hdd and optical drive, up your ram and add a cool color around the screen

If its running too hot, its probably filled with dust in the cooler area. Just clean that and/or reapply thermal paste. 

 

Upgrade the RAM? Also you can get like colored pieces of like paper and put it over the white light from the Screen and make a red etc Apple Logo.

I dont care about improving the performance. All the ram spots are full. I am doing it for the bling. I have a newer 2011 model that I use as a laptop.

I have cleaned the dust out many times. Reapplying the thermal paste is a good idea. I like the logo idea but I might go for a green hue rather than red.
