your school labs's computer hardware?

NickyVida

Fired up the school's lab computer and it felt notoriously slow. Yep to my astonishment it has a 3770 chip and 8gb ram. So that leaves the gpu as the most likely cause. Spotted CCC nearby and i facepalmed. Literally. An HD 7450 as the gpu.

Ah well. Not too shabby i guess. My pre vious school rocked a c2d and a nvidia gpu.

The ones in the CS lab at my uni run 8 gigs of ram and Xeons. Most of the rest of the computers in the school run 4770k's.

You wished you could play games with your schools computers?

I study IT and we have like 4 classes with 20 x thinkpad t420 (i5 2520m) + 4gb ram in some classes and some classes with i5-3470 HP desktops with 8gb ram and 1080p displays. All computers have just igpu.

Also everyone in IT class can get t420 + bag for 50€ deposit and when school ends either keep it or return it for 50€. (It comes with most adobe software too.)

And those thinkpads sell like 1500€ here O_o

We have just a ton of iMac's from like 2008. Complete w/ Core 2 Duos @ 1.2 GHz, 1GB RAM, and a 320GB hard drive... Yeah really cutting edge stuff. Kinda weird, they run super smooth for having such low specs.

We did just get a technology bond for $10 million and everybody got iPad 4s and all the teachers got new MacBook Pro 2013s, which are pretty sweet.

I'm that guy with the GPD Win.

A bunch of our labs are running brand new I5s, 16 gigs of ram. The tech oriented classes have gtx 640s, the normal labs are integrated. all the teachers have I5 laptops. Each room has a 48 inch flatscreen and a touchscreen projector. theres probably 60ish of those tvs through out the halls.

We run a mainframe (dual socket, 128 GB RAM) and a bunch of thin clients in one room. All other computers in school are dells at an average age of about 5 years, I guess. Al machines are capable of doing what they need to be doing.

I had, and still do cause I bought it off the school, a ThinkPad L440, i5-4200M and 8GB RAM, 720M and supposedly there was a 250GB HDD, but when I cracked that baby open it was a 60GB SSD :D

The only thing I was annoyed about was that it came pre-installed with Win8, but the school put Win7 on them -_-. Oh also the touchpad was such a pain to get used to, the buttons were one with the touchpad, sooooo annoying. It was like I was using a x10 more capable, heavier Mac.

About half of the computers are Core2Duo Machines with 3GBs of ram with 17 inch square monitors (that really are not that bad.), and the other half are Pentium 4 machines with 512MB of ram, 40GB hard drives, and use CRT monitors that can give you a headache. Additionally, around 75-80% of the computers are still running windows XP...

No. Open Computer, right click the drive, properties, and then the hardware tab.

I forgot about the middle school (I was just thinking the high school).

More Dell's, some are Optiplex GX280's? with 3.0GHz P4's, 512MB of RAM, 40GB Maxtor or Seagate 7200RPM, Intel Extreme Graphics 2, and Windows XP Professional. Others are Optiplex GX760's (like the high school), most with Core 2 Duo E7200 or E7500's, 4GB of RAM, Radeon HD 3450 512MB, and Windows XP.

One had a Core 2 Extreme Q9650, 8GB of RAM, Windows XP Professional x64, and a GTX 480 (not a Dell), but some of us ( ;)) ran Prime95 and Furmark ALL HOUR and made the room super hot. They replaced it with another of the 760s.

My school's computer lab recently got some updated Core 2 Duo Dell PCs like last year.

This is sort of off-topic but today, in my computer science class, we saw that there was a large pile of twigs and leaves near the back of the classroom. The window was open and, guess what? A squirrel got in over the weekend because our teacher left the window open and it chewed up the whole back row of cables. Cables like those from mice and keyboards and also ethernet cables. This meant a lot of my classmates couldn't use their computers and had to share with others. What's weirder is that the squirrel is still in that room somewhere, but no one knows where. There was a case box chewed up with a large hole in it but nothing inside.
