Aorus X7 Review - Thinnest SLI gaming laptop [4K]

Hey guys, I recently attempted my first review. I made a topic asking people if they wanted to see it and I got quite a positive response, so now I finally got around to finishing up the video. I also might write up a written review sometime in the future (there are plenty of those though).

Anyway the product I'm reviewing is of course the newly released Aorus X7. It's all filmed it 4K, took 2 weekends to film, edit and render. Plus another 12 hours or so to upload the 19GB video file. As I said this is my first ever review, so any constructive criticism is very much welcome. Also feel free to leave any questions and I'll get back to you ASAP.

Full specs of the laptop:

i7-4700HQ
17.3" 1080p Display
16gb RAM
2x Nvidia GTX 765m SLI
2x 128gb SSD RAID 0
1tb HDD

Thanks,

Cacao.

You are sure enjoying your 4K camera, aren't you? :P

Also, I don't here any sort of accent. Are you sure you live in Switzlerland?

Yeah, I really like the camera :D And yes, I'll take a picture with the alps holding up a Cacao sign in a bit.

I'm not asking for proof, I'm just saying its bizarre that you seemingly don't have an accent ;)

How does one find more proof than this?

Plus, doesn't everyone have an accent? How does one not have an accent :P ? Unless you're mute bef5d07c2b686ba9c5733aff73b91d30.png

(I'm childish and like to use lots of picture when I talk)

I just don't hear an accent in you. Where as other people from Switzlerand like Alpenwasser have stronger accents.

Awesome vid watched the whole thing only thing I disliked was the end the way you listed the pros and cons , you should add some b-roll in the background while listing the pros and cons in nice white text instead of the green overall I enjoyed the vid

Thanks for the feedback! I agree the end was a little lacking compared to the rest of the video, I'll try and do better next time ;)

Very nice review. The image quality is really good for a handy cam.

Thanks!

I've had the SM2 for quite a while and I really like it, it's the first smart watch I've tried, so I can't compare it to the others. I never really saw the appeal until it went on sale for a very good price on a local e-tailer, I'm happy I bought it ;)

I have mine since 2 month now, and I really feel like it's a totally underrated product. I've tried the Pebble aswell as the Qualcomm Toq, which are both much more expensive here in Germany and I still think that the SW2 is superior to any of them. Just one question: Do you have the one with the metal armband? If yes: Did yours get scratched as easy as mine did or am I just a unlucky person who got a bad coated armband?

Yes I also have the metal band, I hit it against a wall by accident and got a little scratch, but I just rubbed it a bit with my finger and it disappeared, so no, no scratches at all for me.

Also I agree that it's pretty underrated, it looks really good, battery life is great, it's water resistant, works with any phone, there are loads of apps, it's pretty cheap.

You did a much better job in terms of an unbiased review from an "everyday-joe-blow" perspective compared to other places I've read/watched. THANK YOU. This laptop definitely has its' merits in many places, particularly the software and video output areas, but from your review does fall short in terms of the LCD and touchpad for a ~$2100 laptop.

Battery life isn't too much of an issue for myself when looking at a gaming laptop, as it's expected to be shorter, and I'm already used to only having 3-5 hour battery with an AMD A8-4555M Samsung Ultrabook from 2012. Really, I guess the only way they could have improved it would be with nVidia's Optimus technology, but at the same time I'm glad they didn't after dealing with many driver/ACPI power problems at my work with customer laptops.

Dealbreaker for me would also have to be the NON-IPS display. I mean, really what is the point in having 1080p that doesn't look great at off-Y-axis angles? I'm not always going to have a perfectly setup desk space to game on, so the display really matters. I'll just have to keep looking now, and again, thanks @Cacao :D

Desktop: KiRaShi-Intel-2022 (i5-12600K, RTX2060) Mobile: OnePlus 5T | Koodo - 75GB Data + Data Rollover for $45/month

Good luck on your search for the perfect laptop. Some of the new stuff from MSI, Asus, Lenovo etc. should definitely be interesting. I'll also definitely keep my eyes on Aorus, I heard in an interview that they're making another version of this laptop with updated specs, and hopefully better display, so that should be interesting.

I have a question about the fan noise:  Are the fans completely off when the system is not under load eg. when browsing the internet or watching youtube?  Or doe the fans ramp up quite aggressively even when doing minor tasks.

The fans run really quiet when it's not under load, they aren't completely off but it's really quiet. They ramp up quite a bit under load and get pretty load.
