Mac Pro 2013?

Pelop17

No problem bro :) and there is no w500 only the w5000. The w5000 is a workstation GPU, the 280X is a gaming GPU. Depending on if you are intending to do more work then play or play more then work will depend on which is right for you. The W5000 is great and will out perform the 280X in rendering and 3D cad work but is not a gaming GPU. You can still play games with the w5000 but your FPS will be alot lower then you will get with the 280X. I guess what im trying to say, pertaining to gaming is that the w5000 will not give you a great gaming experience. Sorry if i confused you there.

Thanks! since i will be working first and then gaming i should go with the w5000. Also in a while i will be gatting a 3d-printer so a workstation gpu will be better

Well if memory serves (I might be wrong on this) but to create an application for iOS/OSX don't you need to write and compile the code on OSX? So that might be a be a positive of the Mac Pro. If your gonna be taking it about I suppose that is another positive but I wouldn't walk through the streets with a Mac Pro, if your going to be throwing it in the back of a car maybe you could just build a mini-itx PC in a case like the Bitfenix Prodidy or LianLi case with a handle. Pretty sure the Mac Pro can handle rendering perfectly fine but again you could build a pc which does this perfectly plus it's very expandable and upgradable.

Thanks man, but i want to put it in my bag

If I had the money I would not buy one, i would instead build a badass PC with just as good looks and have Windows on it and not the god-awful OSX

Prefer custom build, hate OS X, Linux for servers and mobile, windows for desktop IMO :)

Not so sure about te OS, but apart from that its a nice little price of equipment. I wouldn't buy it as I don't like the looks and also want upgradability but I spose it's a pretty cool machine. I like freedom with computers and software and apple just don't give that

Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.

As I get older I get angrier more cynical, meaner. I feel some warning posts coming. I feel a ban coming. I was warned.

ARE YOU SERIOUS ! wow  . SO THE mac pro is cheaper!

Becasue i had windows from the begining of my life i am bored with it so i started learning linux to pass the comptia linux enginnering certification where i understand that windows are good but not perfect as the OSX

So i beleive since i will work first and then play i might buy a mac pro = since i do not have a big desk

But if i decided not to get one i will change my build to an ATX case

if anyone owns a mac pro post below!

Sould i stick to the 16gb ram and w5000 or upgrade to w7000? and 32gb ram>?

I think people would rather compromise size than ability.

no soldier complains how big a hmmwv is, nobody complains how big thier house is, if you need a work station you need it to work and be productive which means multiple multicore cpus, gpus, low noise and easy maintenance which is easily done with a tower, thats why 99.9% of computers have been towers for the last 25 years. sure we'd all have console sized pc's if they did everything that we needed to do but that most of the time isnt possible with such a small form factor, even msot modern itx pc's arnt that small though i blame the case manufacturers for poor layouts.

It's not, it's just that buying a 5 thousand dollar PCI-E card is stupid, better off getting a RAID card, and running a few SSDs in RAID5/6, faster, more storage, cheaper and more reliable.

The resale value for a Mac Pro is a lot more than medium I am telling you now!

Also, the D700 f**king STOMPS the 7970, you can't compare firepro to a consumer grade graphics processor!

Yep you need the iOS SDK that is only compatible with XCode, which is apples programming application :S

  • 2 weeks later...

If you had the money will you buy one?

Sorry about making this post but i dont know which one is better!

I would buy the old mac pro if I had the money but not the new one, it looks nice but the amount of accesories I'd have plugged in would be insane. That and I would prefer to have a card with CUDA.

A man of charm with strange quarks.
