Issues switching to Android from IOS

Go to solution Solved by neon,

That's what I thought, but the issue with that is that my iPhone has been restored, restored meaning that it wants to be set up as a new iPhone, and my iPad is set up to receive messages from only my email (both iMessage and facetime). iPhone's still try to send texts via iMessage even after removing me as a contact and re-adding.

The only thing I can think of is to put your SIM back in your iPhone, re set it up and then deactivate iMessage, but if you are on a CDMA network that is not an option.

In that case all I can do is point you to this article http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/548060/20140414/imessage-issues-apple-ios-disable-delink-care.htm it might be a case of you having to ring Apple (it's their problem not your networks) to get them to manually deactivate your phone number from message, Apples implementation of iMessage isn't very good in this respect.

So today I went out and got an HTC one (M8) and had it activated. I absolutely love it except for one thing: All texts sent from iPhones to my phone number wont go through to my phone while I can text them just fine. Those phones have the "send as sms" setting on but still nothing. Those texts were being received by my iPad, but I changed the "send and receive" option on that to my email so it no longer receives those texts but my One still doesn't either. Calling, however, works fine. I'm really not sure what to try next to fix this, should I call Verizon/Apple about this? Thanks in advance guys.

Maybe they're text being sent from iMessage or whatever? I don't own any Apple products, but I believe there's an app for messaging people with other Apple devices, which is probably why your iPad got the text, but your phone did not.

The solution? Stop using iMessage or whatever it's called. Other than that, I dunno what else to say, because I'm not familiar with the Apple ecosystem.

You have to wait a day or so until it completely transfers over. If issue persists, go back to the store.

EDIT: Tell me all the good things about the M8. Possibly my first Android phone in about a month or so.

For me, I don't have a phone (LOL) and use my iCloud/normal email for iMessage. When my friend started a new group chat, I got the messages as an email attachment thing, I forgot what it was called but I got the tests as emails. After a day or so, the messages started to pop in iMessage. Unfortunately I couldn't recieve the earlier messages that were sent earlier

Selling my parts of my 900D rig for a jacked up Ncase M1. PM me for offers if interested (will take some reasonable-low offers because I'm desperate).

Parts that I'm selling: 900D (1 slot cover broken for stealth DVD drive mod) | Asus Z87 Deluxe | Cooler Master 212 Evo | Corsair 4x2GB black ram @1600mhz | EVGA 1000G2 PSU (2 cables with missing heat shrink) | DVD drive | HP membrane keyboard | Ducky Shine 3 YOTS in blue switches (warranty sticker broken)

I went out to the Verizon store and had them activate the One in my number. Idk if that's official or not though. My iPhone was restored to factory settings (i.e. set up as a new phone) before I went to the store. I'm gonna mail it in since I'm trading it in for the One.

Well I cant just have all my contacts with iPhones turn off iMessages :/ That's not very practical.

Only problem with that is that my sister did the exact same thing that I did (but with the old One) and shes having the issues as i described above. And that was almost two months ago. Side note: So far I'm REALLY liking this phone. Android is confusing me quite a bit right now, but I'm sure I'll get used to it :P

So this is happening because your phone number is still connected to iMessage, therefore all iPhones will send a text to you via iMessage rather than SMS.

To fix this is simple, on your old iPhone go into Settings and turn iMessage off, next (because you have an iPad) on your iPad you need to remove your phone number from your iMessage contact options, I can't remember where this is off the top of my head, but it's probably in Settings or Facetime or Contacts.

That is all you need to do, doing that will remove your phone number from Apple and when a contact with an iPhone tries to send you a text it will send as an SMS and not an iMessage.

If for any reason it's more advantageous to send messages via data and the internet than via SMS (ie costs a lot less, or some people are abroad) then a cross platform messenger like WhatsApp or my favourite Telegram (because you can use it on a WiFi only device or tablet) are very good options, but your contacts would also need to install it.

That is why so many people use iPhones, because iMessage, just get your friends to use Whatsapp/Telegram or Hangouts that they are much more fully featured.

I'd rather just have the issue fixed :/ I don't feel too compelled to try to convince them all of using a different messaging app. That'll be my last resort.

To everyone: Should I talk to Apple or Verizon about this?

Well ios does not like Android so u cannot really backup ur ios device to an android device. u used to be able to copy music from itunes on ur computer and put it on windows and it would automatically switch to mp3 so it could go on an android phone.
