Best EVGA 780

JazzyCarr0t

I know there was a thread about the Best 780 but after reading that thread, I was still unsure of which EVGA 780 to get. So if someone can tell me which one would give me the best performance, that'd be great. I was looking at the SC + ACX edition but I am still unsure.

So, let me know which EVGA 780 would be the best and if you could leave a link to it, that'd be great.

Thanks!

If OP is just air cooling, it's a bit of a waste though, these cards like the lightning/kingpin/classifieds  REALLY REALLY shine under water, and I think 7200mhz may be a bit of a lowball, my reference SC 780's can get upwards of 7500-7600 mhz on the mem but the core only hits 1320 mhz at 1.325v with a custom bios on it

I'm conservative with my Memory overclocking, as I like to have a good, stable core clock. I'm not running on water yet. Just the stock cooler.

Small correction: Only the 780 Ti Classified Kingpin edition is guaranteed Samsung ram. The regular 780 Ti Classified comes in Hynix or Samsung. The 780 Classified can come in Elpida (older stock only), Hynix or Samsung.

I'm conservative with my Memory overclocking, as I like to have a good, stable core clock. I'm not running on water yet. Just the stock cooler.

More power to ya :P  classifieds/lightnings/kingpins are SO nuts under water, my cards could only do ~7200mhz mem, ~1175 mhz on the core before my custom loop, and the top one was topping out at about 77-80 C, while the bottom one was at about ~70-74c.

Now even with modded bios at 1320mhz and 7500mhz they barely get above 40c, watercooling is such an amazing thing :D   if only everyone could do it and it cost 10 dollars xD.  I wish I could go and show everyone how much of a difference it makes in terms of noise and performance.

I wish I could of gotten classifieds or lightnings, but they werent out when I bought my 780s. :(

That's the one! To confirm, this is where I bought mine - http://www.scan.co.uk/products/3gb-evga-gtx-780-classified-acx-28nm-pcie-30-6008mhz-gddr5-gpu-993mhz-boost-1046mhz-cores-2304-dport

Also, if you want to get a back-plate for it, the only place that has it in stock, is the EVGA eu store. Ordered mine recently.

It doesn't say dual bios anywhere on the newegg page. Does someone want to confirm those are the same cards? Just to be sure lol.

Also, can you link the backplate?

Yeah that one, didn't realize they were only 529$ now, they were previously like 570$.

Also, what case are you getting? sometimes it's a REAL pain putting the pci-e screws in after seating the card.

And yes it does have dual bios.

Should be ok, it has tons of room inbetween the case and the pci-e screws

@VSG has kingpins and mentioned they're so "wide" that it's REALLY hard to screw in the screw, but that's in a 900D (even my stock 780's are a pain, because of the small space for your hand to screw in the screws)

The price difference is off, unless that's the USD to GBP conversion on my side.

This is a link to the back-plate - http://eu.evga.com/products/moreInfo.asp?pn=100-BP-3788-B9&family=Accessories%20-%20Hardware&uc=EUR

Doesn't seem to be in stock now though :(

I'll just get it sometime down the road. It's not a necessary investment, right?

GTX 780 Classified Hydrocopper.

Hydro-copper block is overrated :P Would be cheaper to buy an EK water-block or similar.

Not as an immediate investment, it does help with three things: Temperature, Rigidity and Aesthetic.

Better off with just a SC ACX version then.

But if I'm getting the classified version for the same price, then why not?
