Dark Rock 2 and Obsidian 450D

hawthorne

I am planning on purchasing a 450D due to it being a perfect case for me.

However...

The dark rock 2 I have in my current computer is 1mm too big for the 450D.

I as wondering what problems this might cause. In my current compute my Dark Rock touches the side panel and is not causing any problems. However I am worried about it scratching the side panel window.

I don't want he cooler to touch the side panel. So I really don't know hat to do.

Just looking for advise.

Not sure what to do.

It might be touching the side panel, and it may scuff it up. The two obvious answers are to either get a different case or different cpu cooler, but it's evident that you have your heart set on these.

I say get the case, and try to fit the dark rock 2 in there. If it doesn't fit, sell it on eBay or something, replace it with something slightly smaller.

I already have the cooler and I am very happy with it. However the 450d is my dream case, I have been waiting for a mid tower obsidian case for ages, the thing is though i find it hard to believe that it won't fit. the case appears very wide, and the dark rock 2 would even fit in the arc midi, my other favorite case.

I can tell you this much :

I build my first ever rig just this past weekend, and your dream case happened to be a part of it ;)

I mainly took the 450D because it was (to me, since I for SOME MAGICAL REASON dislike the Fractal cases) closest to the NZXT H440, which is not in stock anywhere around here untill the end of April, and I was desperate for a new pc.

The only thing I found you should watch out for, is that (atleast in my case) the front top fan, seems to not spin as intended, so it's kinda trying to push itself, without getting into any high speeds.

So basically what I'm saying is that the fan is making a weird ticking noise, kinda like a clock. Just more plastic sounding.

This, however is no big problem for me, as I listen to music/play games most of the time, so I don't even notice it, but it can however get a big annoying if I leave my pc over night and I don't either unplug the fan, I'm insanely tired, or fall asleep almost instantly.

But, that said, This was the first real case I ever got, and I really like it. Too bad we have a dog so it attracts alot of the hairs, but that's why there's fan filters ! :D

I have an H100i liquid cooler, so sadly I can't help you there, buddy :(

Other than that, I bought 4 Corsair SP 120's and put them on the rad to be in pull, and one in the back (Mostly for the looks).

The front AF140L's will be replaced with real AF140's when I get the money. :)

1mm shouldn't be a problem. It won't matter.

Won't matter? Do you think it won't touch?
