Laptop for a buddy.

MW.

Hello, I'm new here at LinusTechTips Forums but I've watched a lot of his videos.

That being said,

I was wondering whether the community here could help me out a bit.

My buddy's a student and he doesn't know much about tech and I do.
I don't know exactly what's the greatest bang for my buck or comparisons of AMD vs Intel processors.

My buddy's requirement list is

Better than an i3. (So any range of i5 will do)
Integrated Graphics (School only)
Decently sized Hard Drive (250+)
Laptop
At least 4GB of DDR3 Ram

Budget of $400, BUT willing to go to $500.
This laptop is only going to be used for school.

Is this feasible? If so, could anyone direct me to the right direction?

I checked Canada Computers earlier today and all the processors seem to be low-key to me / low-value laptops, (not that processors are all that important to web-browsing but he wants it)

Lenovo IdeaPad S400 Touch Notebook 59371476
- 14" Intel Pentium 2127U ULV 4GB 500GB HDD
- Intel® HD Graphics HDMI Win 8

Worth? Could I find more bang for buck? (I know Touch is a luxury)

what is he going to use it for. If its for typing docs and research he really doesn't need a i5.

Just school, typing docs and internet browsing.
