NVIDIA NEW DRIVER KILLS MANTLE IN BF4!!

HERE COMES THE GREEN BEAST NVIDIA :D

The latest GeForce driver is almost here, there’s still no access to download link, but at least we have more info.

Most of those slides were created with a system equipped with Intel Core i7 3960K CPU at 1080p resolution. It does matter, since we are talking about CPU bottleneck here, and 6core systems will surely benefit more than quad-core.

According to new slides you should expect up to 71% better performance in SLI and 64% with single-GPU configuration. Of course, don’t get too excited. Such results will be seen only one one game – Total War: Rome 2, which was not necessarily poorly written, but surely bottlenecked by the DX API.

Gamers who own COH Black Ops 2, Sleeping Dogs, Aliens vs Predator, Sniper Elite and even Thief and Battlefield 4 will surely like the new driver. We are looking at average 10-20% improvement in those games. How will this affect other titles? In few hours we will know the answer.
btw Thief didnt have SLI support, only CF and that was patched in late, boost is due to SLI prob

"Normalized FPS"

What kind of a metric is this?

Considering the 780ti is 200-300$ more than a 290x [at least here, where they havn't shot up because of mining] it seems like a reasonable difference. and AMD CCC 14.4 WHQL is comin in a few days ^^

And it's interesting that they didn't graph the 780 which is in the same price bracket :D

Someone fanboyed in their pants. What a mess!

There's a few problems though:

  • The difference in BF4 with 290x between dx11 and mantle is far larger than 780ti between the old and new driver.
  • Does anyone have any idea what "normalized frames per second" is? How much is 0,07 nfps? Epic matrix derp.
  • Mantle still owns Star Swarm. If mantle becomes part of Dx12, then everyone, including nvidia, will benefit.

PLEASE stop spamming the entire page with a pointless nvidia image at the end. It holds no relavance.

I think normalized is pretty easy to understand. If the FPS R9 290X gets is 100% then GTX 780ti with the new drivers will be nearly 120% of performance. If, let's say, R9 290X gets 100FPS, then GTX 780ti will get 120. It is a dumb metric I know, but it shows they are trying to hide the raw numbers because the difference will be insignificant. Also, that graph if full of shit. Look at the GTX 780ti's performance before the new drivers, it is already better than the 290X with mantle according to them and not all that worse than the gtx 780ti with the new drivers. So, TLDR those graphs and that title is full of shit, please sort it out, it sounds biased and sad really. Will Nvidia GPUs perform better with the new drivers? Yes. Is it a big difference? No, and you can thank mantle for the existence of a difference at all. AMD brought the competition and forced M$ and Nvidia to reply [with directx12 and new drivers]...

I'm pretty sure this is old news. Not to mention this entirely misses the point of mantle. This also doesn't even compare cards in the same price bracket. Plus this is a driver vs an api. I just don't understand why this comparison is being made.

Hell might not give much of an improvement or it might be a huge improvement... but an improvement nonetheless. +1 Nvidia.

Considering that star swarm isn't even a game that seems pretty irrelevant, aside from that I agree that this post is a bit overboard considering that these numbers are from Nvidia themselves. It never makes sense to go on what the actual companies say when it comes to performance. Only a certain few reveiwers and tech sites can be trusted when it comes to this stuff and waiting to see what they have to say about it is the best course of action.

And it's with DX11, so no special API tailored to their GPUs, but I want to see benchmarks from PCPer and Linus... or any respectable source for that matter.

I agree, but apparently nvidia thinks Star Swarm is important enough to make a graph about it.

The pc also seems to have a 6 core intel extreme. Who has an intel 6 core extreme in their gaming rig? Seriously. Such bias, very manipulate.
