Need a new phone

Matsy

My trust flip phone from years ago finally decided to be a jerk and stop working...

So I'm in need a new phone, and I may as-well enter the smartphone market.

Been looking at the motorola moto g as a standard android phone but at £159 for a unlocked sim-free model is alittle bit of a stretch.

Seen it cheaper (£130 ish) but that is locked to a network like vodaphone/tesco etc....not sure I want to dabble there as I will be using a giffgaff sim card.

Any recommendations on a android?

I would go used at that price.

You could get a used iphone 5 or 5c (i've seen them at that price on craigslist uk).

PS: iphone 5c is just an iphone 5 with shittier plastic build quality.

In regards to the moto g, is it even neccacary to buy a sim-free unlocked one?

Been looking around and you can get a unlock code for like £1.99 on ebay for the moto g....

If i bought say Tesco's (

Would I be able to unlock it with http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorola-Moto-G-Mobile-Phone-Unlock-Code-/111223239973 for example?

Look at moto G from republic wireless. They have 25$/month unlimited 3g data text call and 45 for 4g.

I agree with the Moto G but look into ASUS' new phones that should be out soon. They're all unlocked and contract free. Two of the three models they have set to release are going to be sold for less than $200

Desert Storm PC | Corsair 600T | ASUS Sabertooth 990FX AM3+ | AMD FX-8350 | MSI 7950 TFIII | 16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 | Seasonic X650W I Samsung 840 series 500GB SSD

Mobile Devices I ASUS Zenbook UX31E I Nexus 7 (2013) I Nexus 5 32GB (red)

Eww smartphone :P Personally i'd just pick up another one of the phone that you were previously using. You're gonna miss the battery life.

I bought a G in the UK for £100, and it came with a free Vodafone £10 Freedom Freebee (Something like 250MB of data, 150 minutes of calltime and unlimited texts) and after a year, they bump me up to 1GB and 500 minutes of calltime. I can still grab another sim and put it in there, too. I'd go with the G, even if it is locked in. It's well worth it. Or the Nexus 5. But not iOS, if you want to configure and replace things that bug you.
