Which capture card should I get ?

My friend and I are starting a YouTube channel and would like help picking which capture card to get. Currently we are just using Action! capture software on the PC. I like it and I have a Full-fledged work station I usually use for 3D Modeling (software: UDK, Unity, 3Ds Max, Maya, Mudbox, skyrim creation kit etc...)  (i7-4820k 4.5ghz and GTX 660 ti (will soon be replaced by something else probably 780ti or titan maybe a quadro not sure yet.) and it works fine for PC games but my friend is really in to console gaming so we figured we would get a capture card.

What we are looking for is a capture card that records smooth 1080p, Can stream to twitch for live game play sessions are budget is about [ $175 US ]. Also it would be nice to extend storage by using an external hard drive if possible. It would also be good if my friend could use it  with his laptop or desktop. Also it would be cool if anyone can recommend an HDMI splitter to use with the capture card.  So far we are looking at the  AVerMedia Video Device C875 (Live Gamer Portable)AVerMedia Game Capture HD II C285, and the Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition. Any other suggestions would be helpful.  And thank you for responding.

Update:  Although I mostly play on PC and is my preferd way to play games my friend really want to record games on consoles (Ps4, Xbox one, Xbox 360) hence why I need a capture card and HDMI splitter. And thank you to those who have responded already.

Use ShadowPlay, free from Nvidia as long as you have a GTX card. I use it and it works great, like people said doesn't use much HDD at all, works great and there is no dramatic FPS loss like Fraps gives you.

Shadowplay is really good if you get a new nvidia card

I also use an elgato to record gaming footage from my laptop in 1080p and from consoles, its a really really really good recorder, honestly the footage is amazing for how simple it is, plus 0 loss of performance and you can record from different things, mobile phones/consoles/ anything over hdmi basically, ive even recorded my ipad

Doesn't ShadowPlay only record if you are in a full screen application, therefore recording, desktop, software tutorials won't work with ShadowPlay. They didn't say what there channel was going to be about but, it is a point to be made.

For instance my biggest problem with ShadowPlay is that it doesn't record WoW in Windowed Fullscreen mode, and if you tab out in Fullscreen mode it stops recording, I have an AVermedia Live Gamer HD, it's good, just i then got a new monitor that is 2560x1440, so that i can't use it anymore.

Avermedia makes some pretty nice capture cards. I have the portable and works well for both, the only issue being a limit of 30 FPS at 1080P recording (the passthrough is still 60 though). Not sure about streaming however (damn you Australian internet), but it does work with the OBS (in 32 bit mode at least) and Xsplit. Also, it has a H.264 encoder on board, so it doesn't use much CPU power.

Normandy - Intel Core i5 3470, 8 GB Corsair Vengenace LP, EVGA GTX 960 SSC, Gigabyte GA-Z77M-D3H-MVP, WD Blue 1 TB, Seagate 320 GB (steam), Seagate 320 GB (experimental, second OS, etc), Windows 8.1 + Ubuntu 14.10

Garrus - HP Stream 11
