New or already used game discs?

Go to solution Solved by Caspur,

It just depends where you get a used game from. If you get it from a store like Game Stop (US) there's usually a guarantee and they are refurbished. If you get them from eBay you need to be careful because the game disc could be damaged. I always stray away from buying game discs from eBay unless the seller has a really good feedback score.

I'd like to ask you what do you think about getting used game discs? Are the new game discs worth it if i can get already used ones for cheaper? Thanks. :)

Assuming the used ones are not just a steam code then yes used games discs are worth it. However if you get a "used" disc that simply contained a steam key for the game its worthless as its most likely already have been used.

OH OP is not talking about used PC games? Well in that case unless the game has an "online pass" get the used game.

Used can have scratches and other issues that will make it last less time. If you buy new there are no scratches and if you are able to maintain the disc with good care it will last forever. Chances are a used game could stop functioning without you doing anything wrong. It 's much more worth it to buy new instead of used.

The guy I wanna buy the discs from says that they were cleaned using TDR One Step. I don't know anything about it. My ps3 is like 1 month old so i don't know anything about those things :D

Cleaned discs =/= New discs. I'd say go new it's a much better idea, and used isn't even that much cheaper.

the used game market is bullshit, especially at brick and mortar stores, when you buy it literally no money from that sale goes to the developer :( which really sucks

the store has basically given the person trading it in a terrible price then put the price up to sell it on to you, so you are basically financially supported their extortion

(this isnt always the case, but a lot of shops especially in the UK do this, the give you £10 trade in for a brand new £40 game, and you see your box on the shelf the next day for like £25)
