Looking for a streaming stick for TV

feufollets

Hey guys, I recently got a non-smart HDTV as a gift and I really enjoy it, the TV has a build-in media player that I use for movie and photos but when I started watching foreign movies with subtitle I got a problem as the subtitle text was way too small and had no outline which make it very hard to read if the image on the TV is white. I also had problem with some type of files. Basically I wanted to buy a chromecast but it wasn't available in Canada yet. Now it is available but I also saw a review about the Roku Streaming Stick which said it was superior to the chromecast for a small more premium price.à

My question would be for around 40$-60$ what Streaming stick would you recommand? My main use would probably putting movies, and files in my phone sd card and stream it over to the TV.

Thanks for the help!

Is the chromecast streaming phone to TV feature better ?

I'd say potentially the Roku would do streaming from phone to TV better. The Chromecast only has single band wireless N. Whereas the Roku supports dual band. It's not something I use on my Chromecast, I stream content from my NAS or from the Net. But there are a bunch of apps that can do Phone - TV streaming, how good they are, I'm not sure.
