DEMCifilter SA - Corsair 350D Kit

Hello yall,

I recently purchased a dust filter kit from DEMCifilter SA for my Corsair 350D case.  I wanted to try them out, I seen them online and people seem to like them.  I will start my experience from the moment I purchased them until I threw them in my case.

The website was very easy to navigate, the left menu was a little bit crowded for me and small but I was able to find the Case filter section.  After that was really easy to find the Corsair section and my case.  I debated on getting only the top and 2 rear filters, the small and the fan ones, but then I decided to buy the full kit.  They are in South Africa, keep that in mind, I wanted to buy directly from them but I believe some other companies sell their filter, like FrozenCPU for example but I am not sure if they sell the case kits.  I decided to go with the cheapest shipping since it is a little expensive for being international.

Payment was thought paypal, I got an email confirmation and everything was great.  After a couple of days I realized I had not received a shipping confirmation email and I email them to make sure they had receive the payment.  I got a reply and they explained me that the payment was received and that they were having problems with their  automated email system, they gave me the tracking information.  The package took a week to get to me, I live in the Midwester United States and was delivered by USPS.

The package was in good conditions, the filter were encased in a couple of cardboard sheets, wrapped in packing paper and sealed with packing tape.  They also came all in individual plastic bags and they were all inside a bigger plastic bag.  It made the trip and I was happy to see it.

My confusion started when I opened the bag and notices a weird shaped filter, since it did not match the size, shape and description on the website for my kit.  It ended up being the front filter.  It is not perfectly rectangular and it has some notches in the middle and on the edges.  The website has this image as a description of the product:

I did not know what to make if it but in my curiosity I went and checked the Corsairs 750D kit since it is a very similar case, just ATX instead of mATX and to my surprise I found the front filter image to be the same shape, but smaller, of the one I received for my 350D.   It even had a customer picture that I used to check the orientation of the filter.

The front fan also has 2 magnet strips, one with double sided tape that of course you stick to the plastic of the front of the case and has a magnet and the strip that is on the filter itself.  I neded up only using the REAR (L), REAR (S), TOP and FRONT filters.  I have a Corsair AX860 psu and the fan almost never turns on so I left the original bottom filter of the case and for that same reason I did not use the PSU filter either.

The all fit very well, even the top filter.  I have an H100i on my case and even with the round head screws the filter sticks to the top very well.  That is the only exhaust my case has since I am using the rear fan as an intake too.  I sometimes turn my PC off and that is why I want to use the TOP filter, the H100 does not cover the holes on the top completely and I did not want dust to fall into the case thought the holes.

The front filter does not hit my fans even without a grill and I am very happy with that.  I have variable speeds on my fans and even with the fans on full speed the filter does not give in and it is really easy to peel off and replace.  I was impressed because the magnets are really 'low power' I should say and they are easy to peel off and pace back in the case but they don't move, you need to shake the case furiously for the filter to get out of place.  They also look nice and are not an eye sore like other filters I have seen.

A pic of the front and the top so you guys/gals can see how they look:

My only complaints so far are the automated email problems, the items description not being 100% accurate and price, they are a little expensive but I guess you get what you pay for so I will see in a week how they perform.  I am leaving my PC on all week with my fans @ 100% to see how much dust they collect and how much dust gets in the case and I might do a follow up to this review.

I am out!

I thank you so much, I was looking at that kit just 2 days ago and I was wondering if it's worth it.

So far I am really happy with the filters.  They fit and look nice.  I am sure they will work, they are really fine and they don't seem to restrict that much air.

It has been a week since I started using the filters.  The filters have trapped a good amount of dust and they were really easy to clean and my PC inside is almost dust free.   There was very little dust compared with my previous set up.  It was so minimal that I did not notice it until I removed the panel and checked for dust, very little had gone in and settle down.  I couldn't even get it to show on pictures.

I went ahead and checked my rad for dust and also my fan wings and they were clean, very clean.  I passed a brush over my rad to and I couldn't see any dust go loose.  I am very happy with that too.

I am very happy with the filters, it was a worth investment.  I also want to leave this clear, my fan configuration is 2 x 140 AF Quiet fan as and a rear 120 AF Performance (Corsair fans) as intakes and 2 SP 210 Performance (also corsair) in push configuration to a 110i rad and this are my out fans.

I am happy, really happy.

To be honest, what is the point of this if there are already dust filters on where you should have intakes?

DEMCifilter have even finer filters... and are top quality, it's for us that are crazy for anti dust PCs.  :)

I was very skeptical.  The reason I wanted another filter was because my case had negative air pressure,  dust was coming in through vent holes holes on the case and collecting pretty quickly and the easiest thing for me was to turn my rear fan into another intake, rear fans usually don't come with filters.

It depends on the case and fan configurations you want, I had the bad luck of having negative air pressure.  That is what makes the idea of 'having dust filters where you should have intakes' a grey area.

If you don't have a dust problem I see no need for getting this filters but if you do, they are a good buy.  Like the previous poster said, they are really fine filters and trap very small dust particles.  They are fantastic, my case has almost no dust inside and its been over a week.

I am beginning to feel that my investment was not a total waist of money and like I said, it depends on what your dust situation is.  Mine was bad and now, I don't know what to tell you, I have no dust, yet.
