Which GTX 780 Ti to choose?

Gene5is

Hey, I know this have been asked many many times already in the past few months but since some stuff is happening right now I think its appropriate to ask again..

Well first of all im upgrading from EVGA GTX 580 SC 2xSLI to a GTX 780 Ti 2xSLI... Mainly because I upgrade graphic cards every 2-3 years unless is strictly needed(which never happened to me yet) and I dont mind overkill..

I plan on pretty much gaming and working on a 1440p or 1600p monitor.. oh and also do some OC in the future but no LN2 or anything like that, just some basic home overclocking..

I want the best bang for buck, taking in consideration sound levels(VERY IMPORTANT to me, since im Comming from wc'd cards), heat output, looks and performance..

These are my following options:

-Stock cooler EVGA GTX 780 Ti SC(looks the best imho and works nice, also I HATE the ACX cooler looks)

-MSI GTX 780 Ti GAMING

-Asus GTX 780 Ti DCII

-Or should I wait for Asus GTX 780 Ti MATRIX PLATINUM prices?(any ideas on when they are going to be available to buy?)

Should i also take in consideration the upcoming 6gb versions of the GTX 780?

I plan on NOT getting past the 750-800 uss price range..

PS: Sorry for the english, im doing my best to make myself understandable!.. :)

EDIT: some small typos.

It's quite simple. Choose the one which has the best thermals and the one you think personally looks good.

CPU - I7 4770k @ 4.3GHz GPU - EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 Motherboard - ASUS Maximus VI Extreme RAM - 16GB of Corsair Dominator Platinum @ 2133MHz  Case - Corsair 800D PSU - Corsair AX1,200i CPU Cooler - Custom Liquid CPU Cooler SSD - Samsung 840 Pro 256GB Hard Drive - Western Digital Black 1TB.

EVGA ACX-cooled. The Nvidia stock cooler might be nice, but rejecting a cooler because of its looks regardless of performance is a bit narrow-minded. That said, Asus DirectCU II is an equally fantastic option.

MSI coolers are good, but I can definitely say Asus is usually the best. MSI tends to use more coolers than just Twin Frozr.

You said basic home overclocking... the classified is for custom BIOS flashing, changing voltages and breaking records.

For quietness and some basic but decent overclocking the EVGA GTX 780ti Superclocked w/ ACX cooler is the best.

I thought I had managed to convince you that the SC versions are not worth the extra money?  :(

but yeah, its either the classy or the one you are mentioning!.. still cant decide..

also, should i wait for maxwell?.. i feel like my 580's are already struggling hard in most games...

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello everybody, im back with some results.. i know its been a while but a promise is a promise...

Here is what i was able to achieve with some small OC.. i flashed a custom BIOS to get all the way up to 1.21volts.. so these are my results so far..

2rml5lh.png

here are some quick pics i also took with my S4(sorry for the quality and the mess in the background =P), some of these might be useful for those of you wondering about the size and stuff..

They came nicely packaged, with all the useful stuff(Drivers, adapters, case badges etc)

Both cards, side by side...

The card itself

GTX 780 Ti Classy next to my good old EVGA GTX 580 reference with bitspower waterblock for size comparison(these things are MASSIVE):

Backplate shot... Amazon sent me the wrong ones (780's classy backplate, not Ti version) but they still fit so i put them for the looks, im getting the proper ones but since amazon is out of stock its going to take like 2-4 weeks so....

Anyways they look almost exactly the same as the Ti backplate and here they are:

Sorry for the long post and bad english but a promise is a promise!...

Cheers, from Asuncion-Paraguay  :)  :D
