Rate the Computer Generated Image Above You

Ok guys, there's been the Rate the Photo Above You topic for quite some time, but renders(Computer-Generated-Images) don't count as actual photography,so I started this one.

Rules are the same, but I'll still list them :

Rules:

  1. ONLY constructive criticism allowed
  2. No retaliation ratings, if someone gives your photo a low score, you are NOT allowed to give them a poor rating to 'get back' at them
  3. No OT posts, please stick to the rating-photo posts only, if you see a post that doesn't follow the rules, ignore it and move on
  4. Photos can be rated on a 1-10 scale, or can be verbal ratings
  5. Photos must be your own
  6. Skip OT posts and rate the photos above them
  7. You can use any program you want(Blender,Maya, etc.)
  8. Have fun!

I'll start with this one :

Wait so can I post a picture I have taken with an actual SLR or does it have to be a render?

(Guy below me rate the OP's)

Fractals my friend :)

Shapes generated out of iterating mathematical formulas...

I used Mandelbulb 3D to render those.

Here's one vid showing some cool fractal trips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOLTCBTex-s

We used to call them Trip Videos. They would have some mellow acid techno over the top. Take a trip man.....

The only thing was it was twenty years ago and by today's standards they looked crap.

Nothing to see here - move along.

The magic of Blender!

But how do I get started, is it harder to learn than Photoshop ( or maybe even after effects)?

It's definitely way different than those. The UI still hasn't improved yet,but you'll get used to it.

Watch youtube tutorials. They will definitely help you.

6/10 kind of random smoke experiment.

Old Blender image:

UV_Displace_octopusHIcloseb.jpg

There was a popular thread about offsetting highly subdivided surfaces with textures mapped along the quads. This is one test result of that technique. The texture is not mine :)

Yes, there was a feature where you could tell it to render a picture of any car in any city and it would do so.
